A Texas high school student has filed a federal lawsuit against her school and her teachers after she was punished for refusing to salute and recite the Mexican pledge of allegiance.
The Thomas More Law Center filed the suit on behalf of Brenda Brinsdon alleging the McAllen Independent School District violated the 15-year-old girls constitutional rights when she was forced to recite the Mexican pledge and sing the Mexican national anthem.
Brinsdon, who is the daughter of a Mexican immigrant and an American father, refused. She believed it was un-American to pledge a loyalty oath to another country. Ironically, the school district has a policy that prohibits a school from compelling students to recite the American Pledge of Allegiance.
The lawsuit states Brinsdon offered to recite the American pledge in Spanish but the teacher refused her request.

That would certainly be cause for hiding the meaning of the acronym.
Is CSCOPE an acronym?
****************
CSCOPE is the acronym-sounding name that is not actually an acronym for the oft-criticized, all-embracing K-12 educational curriculum that is used in 80 percent of the school districts in Texas.
BINGO!!
Covert Curriculum in Texas Schools
Now, however, the political Left is working to circumvent SBOE curriculum oversight via a program called CSCOPE. Created by educrats at Texas enigmatic Education Service Centers, CSCOPE is not an acronym; apparently the term has no meaning whatsoever. CSCOPE is presented not as curriculum per se, but a curriculum management system, and therefore does not require SBOE review. Furthermore, the Texas Attorney General has stated that while CSCOPE is subject to the Public Information Act, it is a copyrighted product, and public review would give competitors an unfair advantage. (Never mind the advantage wielded by a government entity creating and selling product to school districts.

You know is the worst thing about this story?
ONLY ONE STUDENT REFUSED!
The Birch Society predicted this crap as coming way back in 1958.
The truth just never makes anybody any friends.
Then SCO (Caldera) should sue them for copyright infringement for using the name CSCOPE.

Interestingly, the flag in the video was the one we used from 1795 until 1818, when Mexico was still a part of the Viceroyalty of New Spain. The man in front of the flag looks like President Madison.
That would work.
No. Teacher should be fired ON!
I saw a Republican state rep on TV the other day saying they were sponsoring legislation to put oversight back on the state. I thought THAT'S NOT GOOD ENOUGH.
We need hearings to determine who was behind these efforts. This was a well coordinated effort to undermine our country and corrupt our children.
These people need to be publicly exposed so they never again are near our kids. If we fail they will just come back from a different direction under a different name.
I am ashamed to see “conservatives” like Dan Patrick supporting CSCOPE to the hilt.

CSCOPE was formed to get around the state board from what I can tell.
This crap will not improve until parents and concerned citizens start firing these despicable scoundrels.
The system will not fire them, but these individuals can be...discouraged...from reporting to work.
Sort of a grassroots human resources system...
The Rio Grand Vally is north mexico and is nothing like the rest of the State.
If you don't believe me go live there for three years like I had to do.
I refuse to drive further south than Corpus Christi. I wouldn't work in the Vally again for less than $500K per year and even then I would rent because it would be short term.
When that teacher gets on the witness stand she’ll probably be asked why she offered the girl another assignment and then flunked her. Sounds spiteful to me, and it won’t make her look good. I hope the girl saved that assignment.
Don’t school boards have lawyers working for them who can advise school personnel about issues such as this one, or are school administrators so arrogant and stupid that they believe they can get away with any sort of abuse and no one will do anything about it?
No, the teacher needs an ass kicking.
