I have a strong suspicion that no one was more disappointed about that decision, than Sarah Palin was.
We can speculate endlessly about what it was that caused her to abort her near-certain run for the White House in 2012. Whatever it was, it overpowered her innate sense of duty to country, and her natural tendency to travel the dangerous, but correct course.
I very much hope that she finds the strength to overcome those barriers by 2016. The country desperately needs a leader of her caliber to pull us out of the nosedive we're in.
Absolutely true. That can't be said of any other political figure on the right, that I know of.
Maybe West or Cruz, but they don't quite approach her status yet.
Think West learned a lesson or two in his defeat for reelection.
Cruz hitting pretty hard now, if he keeps it up.
Other than those two, really nothing attracting my attention yet.
Same here. Whatever we do, we have to unite in opposition to Rove's candidate.
That is like the "Yankee and Cowboy Wars" scenario of the 70s and 80s.
But it doesn't really work in the way the author wants it to.
The "in" party promotes "nationalism" and the "out" party promotes "federalism" or "state's rights."
When the "ins" become the "outs" and vice versa it subverts a lot of the conclusions people came to based on the earlier scheme of things.
Conservatives in power are less keen on state's rights than conservatives out of power, and liberals out of power are less concerned with centralizing everything in Washington than they were when they were the "in party."
Of course conservatives in office may be less centralizing than liberals in office, and liberals out of office may be less decentralizing than conservatives out of office, but Bernie's version of things doesn't replace the familiar left versus right distinctions.
Yup, my guess it's going to be Jeb.
Real subtle at first, but my guess of where Rove will be heading, RINO snake in the grass that he is.
Agreed, but they're made of the same fine hardened steel as Sarah. I'm pretty sure those two men are going to figure prominently in the emerging conservative revolution.
