Obama can’t pass laws like that. Congress exists.
We already have gun bans and I don’t own a machine gun.
There is certainly an overt lack of respect for authority today. There is certainly a lack of stability in the family unit today.
your past-is-worse logic
I never claimed everything in the past is worse. Maybe you should read an entire thread before making mindless comments.
Obama cant pass laws
But he can and has issued executive orders.

All those words and no answer to a simple yes-no question. Sad, really.
Shall we re-institute slavery also?
What's your point - are you saying ending Prohibition was as wrong as slavery?
This is 2013, not 1860. Shall we return to the time when there were no automobiles, trucks, highways, air conditioning, planes, central heat, refrigeration, MRIs, CT scans, arthroscopic surgery or vaccines?
the drug ban that began Prohibition is even older than its end ... so by your past-is-worse logic we should oppose drug bans.
I never claimed everything in the past is worse.
Then why did you respond to the suggestion of emulating the Prohibition-enders with a screed about "the time when there were no automobiles, trucks, highways, air conditioning, planes, central heat, refrigeration, MRIs, CT scans, arthroscopic surgery or vaccines"?
Maybe it's time to say what you do think, instead of preserving at all costs your wriggle room.
Your premise is preposterous and a red herring. And I wouldn’t state in public that I plan to oppose a gun confiscation. If the government does plan to ban guns, doing so is just ignorant.
In this case, these people not only smoked dope, they grew the stuff out in the open. IOW they were too stupid to be doing this.
There is virtually no difference between “I know it is illegal but I am doing it anyway” and “The laws don’t apply to me”.
The "time of our great grandparents" would be when exactly? My great grandparents were alive during the civil war. National prohibition was instituted in 1920.
I have repeatedly, but you one trick pony, doper LIEberTARDians never pay attention. Is drug legalization the most important thing in your life?
Wow, so everyone who knowingly breaks the law is an anarchist - speeders, jaywalkers, litters, etc. Your definition of "anarchist" seems a tad broad ... and very possibly includes you.
The "time of our great grandparents" would be when exactly?
As is clear from the context you omitted, the time in question is the end of Prohibition.
What do you think you gain with your clumsy word games and evasions?

Prove it - give the number of the post in which you make a declarative statement about how the end of Prohibition relates to the absence of automobiles, trucks, highways, air conditioning, planes, central heat, refrigeration, MRIs, CT scans, arthroscopic surgery or vaccines.
Is drug legalization the most important thing in your life?
The most important things in my life have nothing to do with FR.
What is that?
the time in question is the end of Prohibition.
My great grandparents were dead in 1933. What do you have against accuracy, definition and meaning?
Is drug legalization the most important thing in your life?

Ooh, typo flames - the Drug Warrior is bringing out the big guns now.
they made a mistake with their prohibition and correct it.

Mine weren't.
definition and meaning?
To repeat, the time in question is the end of Prohibition.
What do you think you gain with your clumsy word games and evasions?
Shall we re-institute slavery also?

Is drug legalization the most important thing in your life?
The most important things in my life have nothing to do with FR.
Is drug legalization the most important thing in your life?
No, drug legalization is one of the least important things in my life.
Now how about you at long last address some substantive points?
The post stated let's go back to the time of our great grandparents. I did, the Civil War. My great grandparents weren't alive during prohibition. To repeat, the time in question was the time of my great grandparents.
My great grandparents were dead in 1933.
Mine weren't.

So you read that sentence and thought the key was your great grandparents rather than Prohibition? Dear, dear.
Let's start over: Time to take a page from our forebears who had the character to admit they made a mistake with their prohibition and correct it.
Good idea. Facts, accuracy and timelines are important in most discussions.
The majority of the people decided to end prohibition, though I do believe there are "dry" counties, towns and villages to this day. I know we have them here in Alaska.
Evidently the majority is not in the mood yet to legalize marijuana nationwide.
I personally believe we have bigger and more important issues that need immediate attention. Doper LIEberTARDians don't.
Oh?

And that option should be available for marijuana as well.
Evidently the majority is not in the mood yet to legalize marijuana nationwide.
"A Public Policy Poll from late last year revealed that 58 percent of Americans favor legalizing pot." - http://www.examiner.com/article/new-legislation-introduced-that-would-legalize-marijuana-nationally

I have a life outside FR - you should try it.
