Once elected they ignore those who elected them because only 18 (if I remember correctly) states have recall procedures and they are generally cumbersome. This is another argument for: term limits, citizen statesmen (no professional politicians), performance based iniatives for Congressmen, and no special perks for elected officials. I would much prefer to have representatives who have worked in fields other than being professional politicians.
