The cuts were a 10% reduction across the board but it ended up being a math trick because the “sequester” was delayed so the actual cuts are really much smaller. The “meat cleaver” was wielded by his handpicked appointees which means it is what he wants but it gives him plausible dependability, like when the DHS loosed the jailed felon illegals. Obama could stop this at any time by ordering his people to cut low-profile programs but he chose the path of most pain that offers his party the most photo ops.

My daughter also works for DoD. As of yesterday, they still don’t know she’ll be furloughed. She’s a GS-13, single and after three deployments to Afghanistan , she has a fair amount put away. She will probably lose ten percent of her pay. One of her co-workers is a GS-12, a single mom and is going to be hit hard by the furlough.

-——how does THAT get us out of the hole?-——

For the immediate present, the hole is not at issue. What is at issue is managing the sequestration cuts to prevent vindictive cuts.

It amounts to kicking the President in the ass and forcing benign cuts

The hole is to be delt with before the end of the month

hopefully even the MEdia is figuring this out
the only thing that may stop obama’s irresponsible vindictive madness is for the presstitutes to wipe the obama dribble off their chins, stand up, and cast the light of day on it

and be brave enough to stand up to what Bob Woodward is now going through

Hopefully Woodward wont have a “heart attacK anytime soon (RIP Andrew Breitbart)

FOX Business is on the story - for now

we must agree to disagree
It is the role of the Senate to come up with a budget, then
both houses approve it and potus signs it
Do you see what is missing her?

The bottom line. The budget.

When departments and agencies have budgets the department heads figure out where to prioritize and what to cut (or really here, to not be able to increase)

When there is no budget, there are no limits- everyman for himself. Take what you spent last year, add 8-10-20%, go for it.

Impossible for Boehner to manage the spending of every department and agency in the federal govt without even having a budget to meet

As far as I know no one proposed giving Congress line item veto over but it has been proposed for - and rejected by- the president

So this guy is looking at a $1200/month decline ,, probably looking at his net because that’s what people do , makes his gross about $6k/month $72k/year ,, back in all the benefits (about $40k) and taxes (maybe another $35-40K) and the fact that he’s basically a janitor that changes air conditioning filters in a spotless gov’t building with no restraints on purchasing the latest and greatest (easiest to maintain) equipment ... This guy has a SWEET GIG making approx $130k a year... yeah ,, and those “step” increases and merit raises that aren’t mentioned can be up to 25% of the base pay for the GS level he’s at.

First, I pray for Beth and all those who will feel the pain from these cuts and ALL the MILLIONS of Americans who are feeling the pain of the Obama Administration.

But, I want you to understand that we out here in the NON-Government workforce have been dealing with this crap for FOUR YEARS! She is just NOW feeling the weight of Obama’s Presidency!

Since 2009, my company has laid off nearly 50% of our national workforce - many of them VETERANS! We have not had pay raises in FOUR years (some of us VETERANS took temporary pay CUTS to keep our jobs (until times were better)), most government workers only got a pay FREEZE two years ago, we have taken on extra work and had to spread our coverage over several STATES as our co-workers were RIFed.

I know this sounds un-Christian-like to you, but welcome to the party! I, along with MOST Freepers, take no pleasure in others having to take a loss, but we do enjoy the SHRINKING of the US Government. Understand that we too have friends who are single, with sick kids, who have to pay bills, working two and three part-time jobs because Obamacare is making companies scale back their full time workforce! I have TWO of my kids (along with grand kids) now BACK home with me due to this Presidency - this pain isn’t JUST starting on March 1st, 2013 - it has been GOING ON FOR FOUR YEARS!! We ALL have problems, but the non-government tax payers cannot continue to pay more and more just so the US Government can have their GUARANTEED 8% (baseline) budget INCREASE every year! It has to END!

It isn’t that we don’t care, it is that we already are, and STILL are, feeling the PAINS that these employees are just NOW starting to realize! The sooner you, Beth and others realize how bad it really is out here, the sooner you, Beth and others will want to help fix this BEHEMOTH known as our current US Government!

And last, but not least, these were cuts in DISCRETIONARY spending, so it was up to each department to come up with cuts and plans to fulfill these cuts ordered BY President Obama! This Administration decided to IGNORE these impending cuts (thinking that they would just go away) and failed to plan for and implement them! More importantly, the Obama Administration is trying to make these cuts to be as PUBLIC and PAINFUL as possible - for political purposes - and you want ME to feel guilty because OBAMA is hurting people for political purposes? Sorry, but that simply isn’t going to happen!

Last thing: if people wanting to shrink the US Government makes you think about leaving the Republican party, then leave! The Republican party already has PLENTY of BIG-GOVERNMENT RINOs!

This is a hit piece that Pravda would be proud of. The blame is squarely on the traitor we have in the White House. May he, and all of his supporters, slowly roast in hell.

The destruction of the US Military (which began with a thumbs up to open faggotry and women in combat), continues at 100MPH today. Your guns are next!!

Well, well. Look at Miss Prissypants all butt hurt because I insulted his Obama-loving union buddy. Sorry, I shouldn't have said free, but taxpayer subsidized.

Looks like DU has a refugee. Only an idiot would think that $72k a year for a federal government firefighter is a good deal in the midst of the worst economy in the modern era.

You and the rest of the union thugs can suck it.

Maybe if you wouldn’t exaggerate like Maxine Waters, you would not have to be put in your place.

Ooo, put me in place Gene Sperling! I'm so scared of you and your union enforcers.

You friggin' sit here and act as if federal employees don't get cushy taxpayer subsidized health care, and shout liar at anyone who dares question it. What website did you think you were on? Get out into the private sector and see how bad things REALLY are!

He says his insurance premiums increased. Who does he blame for that?

Anytime someone says “I’m a republican but I love obama” I know it’s a typical lying liberal.

Oh brother. My entire family works private sector and are doing extremely well. My brother in law just received a promotion and moving from Tennessee to Indiana. My brother works for a private company as an Engineer and makes big money. I retired from the Navy after 24 years and loved the military so much that I wanted to stay with them. You can’t be in uniform your entire life even if you want to. I sacrifice making big bucks for loving what I do. Sorry you are so bitter.

You sound like a pretty reasonable guy when you aren't name calling and shouting 'liar' at people.

The last company I worked for started furloughs in 2008 where everyone took two days off per month instead of letting one person on the team go. Furloughs and cutbacks have been going on for years; I'm actually glad that government employees are actually experiencing what the rest of us have been going through. Seeing some federal employee making $6K a month bitch and moan about being furloughed 4 years into the Obama presidency (a federal employee who donated to Obama's campaign by the way, Mr. Gregory Russell) while he is still employed and still enjoys government benefits is a little too much to swallow.

I guess I expected Freepers to feel the same way, but obviously, some do not.

Here is my response to anyone who might be negatively affected by the sequester cuts because they work for the government. "Whoop tee f**king do."

Most of the time I am reasonable but I am scared. I do understand that the civilians have had the hell the last 4 1/2 years on their shoulders. I also am just pissed off at Obama and the media. We are going to be so screwed not because of sequestration but because they keep blaming Republicans and the stupid population seems to believe it. I apologize for calling you names and being nasty. To be honest, it is not directed at you but Obama and the media. Obama made this mess and fine we will lose some money out of the paycheck and then in his next breath, he sends 60 million to Syria. That just disgusts me.
