Sequester Forces Biden to Take Amtrak Friday, March 1, 2013 10:04 AM
By: Sandy Fitzgerald
Joe Bidens military flights back home to Delaware will be grounded starting this weekend, as the vice president plans to start taking Amtrak trains to help cut the costs involved in using military transport for the short trip.
Biden said he initiated the change in travel plans, Fox News reports, saying the change is the one part of the sequester that works to his benefit.
According to published reports, it costs the government tens of thousands of dollars every time Biden takes Air Force Two or other military flights back to Delaware. Biden told the National Association of Attorneys General he enjoys taking the train, and took nearly 8,000 trips by Amtrak as senator.

Not to mention, now TSA has an excuse to build their rank-n-file by moving past air travel to rail and most likely bus transit once the undersecretary of federal foo-foo has to ride a bus to Trenton, NJ.
Now if we could just ground Air Force One and wookie One.
He dont need a plane. He dont need Amtrak....It’s less than 100 miles. He don’t need a donut for his hemorohoids.
The problem with the military being hit so hard lies squarely with the Republicans who negotiated the sequester in the first place because they went along with the RATS wanting 50% of the cuts to come from defense as if we're still running at Reagan era spending levels. Total idiots.
Can anyone tell me the exact distance between Wash DC and the nearest airport tht Biden would fly to in Delaware?
Is it worth winding up Aur Force 2 for such a short distance??????
Yes, I think this was the GOP bluff...they thought any problem with military readiness would be pinned on the CIC...and gave him ‘flexibility’ to change where the cuts are made.
So far Barry has called their bluff...and even doubled down by refusing to fuel a carrier.
However, with every hour that passes by, without starving nude children roaming our streets, Barry looks worse. And, the idea of government cuts will not look so scarey after to the sheeple after all.
amtrak is government make jobs for unions.
biden is pandering.
If it was a bluff, it was a foolish bluff because with the media as his personal PR department and most Republicans hiding under their desks instead of challenging him, nothing gets pinned on Obama. However, I don't believe for a second that it was a bluff. It's just SOP for the GOP.
Look back at any Congressional bipartisan effort and you'll see the same pattern over and over again: Republicans appoint mostly members who want to solve the problem or find out the truth but most of all will make whatever deal is necessary with the RATS while the Democrats appoint one highly respected bipartisan member to lead their side and use their remaining members to protect their turf and most of all, to protect their own.
For example, the 9/11 Commission. The Republicans were led by RINO Tom Kean with the remainder RINOs while the RATS were led by above-it-all Lee Hamilton and included not just protectors of their turf like the detestable Richard Ben-Veniste, but an actual perpetrator of 9/11, Jamie Gorelick. It was her directive instituting a wall between the CIA and FBI that directly led to the attack and should have landed her in the cell next to Khalid Sheikh Mohammed instead of on that panel investigating the attack.
Same with this issue: You had Republicans all too willing to fix the problem by making any agreement they could with the RATS while the RATS made sure to protect their spending and big government programs and take out more of the Defense Department which they hate, but most of all, they were there to enhance and protect Obama.
Whenever a deal gets made, and the Republicans will make a deal as the heat continues to be turned up under the desks where they're hiding, Obama will simply blame them for not agreeing sooner and they'll just stand there hanging their heads like puppies who soiled the living room carpet.
