President Obama on Saturday called for a “caucus of common sense” to step forward and stop the sequester, which began cutting $85 billion of federal spending out of the economy on Friday. …

The deadline to avoid the across the board cuts outright came and went on Friday evening, as Mr. Obama officially signed the sequester into effect. Both parties blamed each other for the failure to secure a deal before the deadline, and the finger-pointing continued Saturday. …

Ironic that a man most devoid of common sense calls for a “caucus of” same, with the full intent of not heeding it should it actually come to be.

The Executive Branch executes the laws. That means that if the sequester cuts are painful Obama’s people made them so. If people suffer he is to blame.

The sudden ubiquity and repetition of “common sense” here is in keeping with one of the pillars of leftist propaganda methods — drill an easily-remembered slogan or common term into the target audience, who eventually will accept it uncritically.

It’d be common sense if he were doing that and failing miserably at it.

I had a friend who worked for the government when they had the last big “shut down” and told all ‘non-essential’ workers to stay home. He told me that after the publicity died down and the house passed a new budget bill everyone who had been laid off got back pay. So in essence, the gubmint workers get free paid vacation time while the media tells the rest of us to buck up.

Common sense is not having fagolae as Boy Scout adult leaders, admitting life begins at conception, paying one’s bills on time, respecting the elderly, and never watching Sheppard Smith over at FoxNews.

They won't shut the government down.

They will pass an extension, but will again "seperate" the Sequester cuts from any vote.

Just the threat of the greedy geezers and the welfare queens complaining about their Social Security checks or TANF (welfare) checks has prevented a government shut down at every phase.

The Dept of Defense is will be slowly gutted, because Congress and the President fear the Entitlement takers - in their minds, Defense can go to hell.

Solidarity and subsidiarity -- smallest entity (sometimes a church) takes care of the problem.

Bravo, Paul Ryan for explaining these terms.

“Absolutely EVERYTHING BAD is now Sequester related.”

I’m pretty sure that anthropogenic global warming existed prior to sequestration.

Notice how all the media coverage of this “national disaster” has suddenly stopped? The pollsters must have realized the public isn’t buying it and the media were told to stop.
