Since he didn’t get anything in the robbery, where did the cash come from. See, lack of planning. I always use my last $60. bucks to top off my stolen ride before my next caper.

LOL.

If he was that smart, he probably would have gotten a job, rather than attempt to stick up a bank.

Teach kids - do a stick-up robbery and feed yourself once, get a government job and you steal enough money to feed yourself for life.

Maybe he didn’t have any money hence the robbery.

I remember reading in New York magazine about 20 years ago an article on bank robbery. They said that for every $1,100 stolen from a bank someone spends a year in jail. Even those days, not a great rate of return. Generally, banks try to discourage robberies by vigorous prosecution rather than shoot outs on the premises.

Bank robbery was never a lucrative field. A kid I went to high school with was killed about two years after graduation pulling a bank hold up. I suspect suicide by cop. He seemed like a normal kid, but we never know what demons someone is wrestling with. The bank across the street from where my wife works was held up about a month ago, the perp ran across the street into another bank, the cops were there in no time and arrested him. A 25 y.o. local man, apparently living with his parents, no job, no friends, no hope. A loser, but a sad case.

Willie Sutton ( a fellow one time resident of Queens) was one of the more successful bank robbers. He spent half his life in prison. He said the only reason he was ever caught was because an one of his accomplices blabbed, usually to a broad. Still he spent half his life in prison.
