Easy, it was a stolen car and he didn’t want to waste any more money on gas than it would take to get to his ‘stash’ vehicle.
He just miscalculated.
If he had a shotgun he could have fired 2 shots in the air and the bank patrons would have ‘froze’.
Of course if he didn’t calculate on the ceiling raining down on him that could be just as futile as shooting through the vault door.

Our VP is a lawyer and probably much smarter than either of us. Now, if I discharged a shotgun into a door, I would be lucky not to be seriously injured by ricocheting shot and debris. But not Joe Biden. Why doesn’t he remind us that if someone threatens you with a shotgun, just plug it with your widdle finga and blam! the shooter’s face will be blackened with no consequences to you.

The robber’s face will then spin around to the back of his head. He will slowly reach up and drag it back around and tell you that you’re “dethpicable.”
By definition, the robber DID have an assault weapon; the hero bank customer had a save-the-day weapon.

I am sure I missed the ‘sarc’ tag here BUT, we all know book smarts have absolutely nothing to do with being ‘smart’ in the ways of the world.
Biden was ‘smart’ enough to avoid joining the Military.
Of course, if he knew ANYTHING about weapons, he never would have made those two utterly ridiculous remarks.
