A psychiatrist spouts every leftist's dream from gun registration to the somehow magical idea that kooks with seven to ten round magazines won't be much of a problem since then the weapons are "less lethal." Somehow however apparently his profession doesn't share any of the blame for the problem of patients of psychiatrists shooting up movie theaters, schools, etc.

Twice in the last two years brutal murders have been committed in my county by people who were successfully defended by public defenders who prevented mentally ill people from being involuntarily hospitalized. In neither case was a gun used.

The most recent is an incredibly sad story all around. The son of one of my former schoolmates brutally stabbed his mother to death just weeks after his parents tried to have him committed. The worst part is that a public defender managed to successfully declare him incompetent to defend himself and then helped keep him out of the hospital.

The father said the kid was begging for help and saying that demons were coming to him in his bedroom at night.

This would be funny if it wasn’t so sad. Still waiting on a point by point explanation as to how ANY registration or law currently proposed or ever to be proposed will stop criminals and nut cases from doing whatever the hell they want. Crickets! Background checks? You first mr. president.

Still no word on the medication history of these mass murderers. Normal humans do not slaughter random children at point blank range. There were even some Nazis who couldn’t manage that!

“Sanity” will be determined solely by political affiliation if they have their way. They will check your voter registration and if you didn’t vote for Obama or another Democrat, you will be deemed “mentally unfit for firearm ownership”.

Trust me, it’s coming!

“license guns just like we license cars”
Exactly the problem. The criminal class doesn’t care about registering cars, driving with a license, or having insurance. They do what they want and don’t care about anybody or anything.

The bastards would do the same thing with guns. Deliberately allow criminals to have guns and to commit crimes, while harassing law-abiding non-violent citizens.

The ridiculous Driver’s License comparison needs to die a painful, ugly death.

First, licensing vehicles is only required IF the vehicle is to be operated on the public roadways. Vehicles that never see use on the roadways do not need to be licensed

Second, the ONLY reason for licensing (and renewal) is revenue generation by way of VIN capture/registration, for the State’s coffers.

When we apply the model to firearms of any sort, this crap of mental health checks is nothing but a ruse to get to registration, which can only lead to confiscation. The NICS checks are only as good as the underlying database contents. IF there is anything to be done, start there.

Apart from that, there is nothing in the 2nd Amendment about background checks, registration, or anything else. It is plain and concise, just as written.

Molon labe...

The psychiatrists have been a vital part in the left-wing subversion of America- ever since they took homosexuality off the list of mental illness. They are still working to that end, and the gun control issue is the next step in their process.

29. Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis.

38. Transfer some of the powers of arrest from the police to social agencies. Treat all behavioral problems as psychiatric disorders which no one but psychiatrists can understand [or treat].

Physician, heal thyself.

Chapter 3: The Moral Climate of Health Care
Section: MALPRACTICE

(Philip A. Pecorino, Ph.D.
Queensborough Community College,
The City University of New York)

Quote:

"According to an article published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), over 225,000 people die each year due to iatrogenic causes. This has become the third leading cause of death in the United States, after deaths from heart disease and cancer.

* 12,000 deaths/year from unnecessary surgery
* 7,000 deaths/year from medication errors in hospitals
* 20,000 deaths/year from other errors in hospitals
* 80,000 deaths/year from infections in hospitals
* 106,000 deaths/year from non-error, adverse effects of medication"

End quote.

We could also require locked gun cases and gunlocks.

This would be blatantly unconstitutional, completely ignoring the Supreme Courts' ruling in "Heller", in which the court ruled that laws requiring that guns be either disassembled or bound by a trigger lock, was unconstitutional.

Guns are as dangerous as cars: We need to license them just like automobiles.

Sophistry.

1. There is no constitutional right to own, possess or drive a vehicle.

2. Licensing of a vehicle is only required if the owner wishes to drive the vehicle on public roads. An owner may drive their vehicle on their own private property, without a license, or insurance, of any kind.

We could even require buy-back of magazines larger than the seven- or 10-bullet limit

This would also be unconstitutional. Specifically, it would be a violation of the Fifth Amendment right of due process, which prohibits citizens from being "deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law".

Medical errors kill 195,000 people every year in the USA.
How long must we stand idly by while doctors and nurses slake their bloodlust unhindered?

Psychiatrists still have one of the highest suicide rates of any profession. I don’t take advice from unstable people.

Why are the “dangerously mentally ill and felons” allowed to roam the streets?
