Universal Background Check AKA Firearms Registration & Why You Shouldn’t Comply

Washington, DC --(Ammoland.com)- As a result of recent criminal activities, the media is clamoring for a government solution. That solution being offered to the American public runs the gamut from creating “banned” firearms, to “banning” certain amounts of ammunition.

What we should be more concerned with is the politically correct term “universal background check” or “UBC”. This term is nothing more than a euphemism for firearms and human registration. It means prohibiting private firearm sales and transfers, so that even transfers between family members will go through federally licensed dealers and be recorded by the government, as are dealer sales. Ask yourself, how will this universal check be done? The political pundits will tell you it is merely about looking at your criminal record. Well, that sounds reasonable; we already do that for dealer sales. So why need a “new” kind of background check then? In truth, the UBC reality will be a thorough search of your medical records, your mental health records and of course your military service records. On the surface, all of this may sound benign and nothing we should fear as a people.

The fact is we should be very fearful of this. We are talking not only about government having a record of everyone who owns guns (and WHICH guns), but of their creating a national data base of human beings with every aspect of your life included. Have you ever been prescribed an anti-anxiety or depression medication after losing a loved one? Are you a first responder from the incident on 9-11, or a veteran from the front lines in Iraq, either of whom might be suffering from PTSD?

KEYWORDS:
Should a UBC be enacted either by people’s complacence, or firearm companies’ compliance, we will become the most surveilled society the world has ever seen. This effort will follow the same dangerous path that Hitler put into place, but will surpass it.

Sell or trade guns only with people you know and trust, backdate all receipts pre-UBC in case any questions are ever asked, go about business as usual and ignore UBC.

I’ll go along with the background check so long as Obama passes it first.

Oh, and a universal background check should be required for voting since it will be so ‘unintrusive’.

If I go to a BIG gun show like the one in Tulsa OK, I may walk in with a firearm, make a trade with another individual visitor in the first isle, another trade a few isles in, then before I leave the show buy a firearm from a dealer.

So, I may have 5 or 6 trades before I leave. And they expect me to stop and call the feds to check each individual buyer? And they have to call to check me out if it is just a trade?

NONSENSE. Only the last firearm that I bought from a dealer needs to be checked, not the individuals there also wanting to trade.

At an Osage Beach gun auction last weekend, a Colt Python (looked like 90-95 percent condition) went for $1350. A baby Sig .22 auto sold for $850.
All the guns went for high bucks...

Just consider one little thing – who’s to say that once they’ve set precedence over everyone’s personal property and expanded these background checks to be ‘universal’ what would stop them from extending these Controls to ancillary items besides guns themselves?

Past experience has shown that government only expands it’s abuse of liberty.

What would stop them for trying to impose UBC’s on ammo sales and sales of Scopes, magazines, cleaning kits, etc.?

NOTE: You can be rest assured that the Proggies have already thought of these aspects of the overreach and destruction of liberty, so it’s not a case of giving them new ideas.

Our corrupt politicians and electoral system is getting far more people killed that any guns owned by law-abiding citizens.

When was the last time that guns were used to steal trillions of dollars from the futures of the unborn?

Two words, “Jury Nullification.”

I have been preaching that idea since our Dumb Governor Malloy said he was going to pretty much ban So Called Assault Rifles from sale to the Public. On top of that You have to Register the weapon you have and Your Banned from the possession of any Magazine over 10 Rounds.

I hope I get placed on a jury so that I can nullify those charges against anyone who has Not committed a crime of violence with those weapons.

I’ll say it again. If UBC is implemented, all the government has to do is declare a National Emergency, real or manufactured, and shut down the checks for “public safety”. Viola! An instant ban on any new acquisitions by the law-abiding citizens. The criminals however, will continue to ignore the laws. And who knows when the “Emergency” will be lifted?

Right now the computers seems to go down on gun show weekends for “routine maintenance” (cough), so, IMO, they are just trial runs to get all the wrinkles out.

Yup, I’m just itching to get picked for Jury Duty again so that I can educate all the other potential jurors on their right to Jury Nullification!

That way, even if I don’t get on a jury—in the past, whenever I’ve mention that I’m a physicist, the attorneys give me a big “Thank you... NEXT!”—at least the others who do get on a jury will then be empowered to flex their muscles.

Cheers!
