Police officers spent hours hanging knitted pom-poms from trees in a bizarre bid to 'reduce the fear of crime' - rather than going after criminals.
Residents around Bede Park in Leicester say they want more street lighting and CCTV cameras after a survey found people living there felt more at risk than anywhere else in the city.
Academics say the fluffy balls will make people smile, inducing feelings of security.
But locals dubbed it the 'worst crime fighting idea ever'.

Scrolling through the list of articles on FR this morning is tremendously depressing. At least this one made me smile at the utter stupidity.

That’s got to be the ultimate of blank faced, wide eyed Liberal idiocy ever espoused in history.
Note to academics: An induced feeling of security is not the same thing as a force field that deflects bullets and knives.

The whole picture here, NOT the photographs, but the picture created by the article of this happenstance causes me to think of a hippy girl I dated back in ‘68 after I returned from my tour in the military. THIS whole “thing” is her.

The once great England that ruled the seas and brought civilization to so many parts of the world. Thanks to socialism, liberal mindlessness and unlimited immigration this is how the mighty has fallen. The sad thing is we are getting a glimpse of our future here in the US.

Maybe the police should give out baby pacifiers. Nobody can attack someone sucking on a pacifier, right? Seems to me that would be just as logical.

Yes I recall the Cowsills, and specifically that song. Funny you brought it up as just last week I was wondering to myself what ever happened to the Cowsills? They were every bit as good, or better as many of the era including the Osmonds IMO.
I’ll have to look them up, and see where they went one of these days.
