You know, those Capitol janitors will not get as much overtime. Im sure they think less pay, that theyre taking home, does hurt.
Gene Sperling, director of the White House economic council, on ABC News This Week, March 3, 2013
On the issue of the janitors, if you work for an hourly wage and you earn overtime, and you depend on that overtime to make ends meet, it is simply a fact that a reduction in overtime is a reduction in your pay.
White House spokesman Jay Carney, news briefing, March 4
At a news conference last Friday, President Obama claimed that, starting tomorrow, the folks cleaning the floors at the Capitol had just got a pay cut because of the automatic federal spending cuts known as the sequester.
The president very quickly earned Four Pinocchios for that statement, especially after senior officials at the Architect of the Capitol (AOC), the federal agency that employ janitors on the House side, and the office of the Sergeant at Arms (SAA), which employs janitors on the Senate side, issued statements saying the presidents comments were not true.
Still, the White House has kept up its spin offensive, claiming that a cut in overtime was a de facto pay cut and thus the president was right or at least not wrong.

That is how they milk the system..why do it on Friday when you can come in on Sunday and get double time for your work...and of course the new higher costs are figured in your retiremnt payments...all inflated on purpose....
The fact that we have two separate agencies hiring janitors for the same building says a lot about how wasteful and inefficient our government is.
Liar...liar...liar...pants on fire. That is the legacy of this clown-car presidency.
I'm 61 years old, worked in the printing industry for well over 40 years. I was payed well and did some overtime many times. I never relied on "overtime" to pay my bills. I budgeted on my 40 hours a week. The OT was a BONUS.
I'm tired of these bastards. I'm guessing these janitors are paid more per hour than I ever was and benefits, that back in the day, would make my head spin.

Its like a sauna in here.
Your post perfectly describes the picture I have of 0...with a clown hat on and his pants on fire. Wish I had design skills :)
Its getting sicker and sicker...I think there is mental illness afoot in the administration.
Too bad you can’t get the vocal inflection in the written word.
So, what does a Capitol bldg janitor make per year?
I’m guessing six figures before overtime.
