(John McCain, Lindsey Graham)
Rand Paul has done a brilliant thing filibustering the Presidents appointment to the CIA.
By keeping the filibuster going through prime time, Rand Paul forced ABC, CBS, and NBC chief sources of news for low information voters to cover the issue.
Along the way, Rand Paul had help giving him time to rest his voice. Ted Cruz came down a few hours in to give Paul a break. Mike Lee and Jerry Moran came in. Cruz read tweets in support of Paul.
Mark Kirk, who returned to the Senate a short while back after a very bad stroke, came in to support Rand Paul.
Even Democratic Senator Ron Wyden of Oregon joined in the filibuster.
Meanwhile, Lindsey Graham and John McCain went to eat dinner with the President. That speaks for itself.
Graham and McCain showed their true colors, sucking up to a nobody who has no business living in the White Hut. Let's work hard to get rid of these two chow hounds.
When is Lindsey Gramnesty running for re-election? He needs to be primaried big time.
McCain and Graham are domestic terrorists and need to be droned.
Sorry but this was a waste of conservative firepower. If an “American citizen” engaged in an ongoing terrorist act ( about to kill kids or detonate a nuclear device on American soil) were killed by a drone the size of an insect, how would that be different that a government sniper taking him out? Would have been much more pertinent if Rand was protesting Brennan’s refusal to use water boarding. Water boarding has a documented record of having stopped some terrorist mayhem. What is he going to do if a captured terrorist refuses to divulge the location of a hidden ticking nuclear bomb?
The Gang of 12 GOPe. Shame on ALL of them for breaking bread with 0, but especially Ayotte and Toomey.
>> While Rand Paul and Ted Cruz were standing up in the Senate last night...
bump
Most democrats and most republicans apparently agree with Obama wanting unchecked power to kill Americans without due process. Perhaps he is the great uniter after all.
I think we are all targeted and its no mistake.
The government is moving to control everything we do and having the ability to kill us without due process is key to their success.
They can declare we are a threat and dispose of us as they see fit .
Obama and Holder are fond of moving the goal posts - that's a fact. Will Tea Party members be corralled into the end zone? What Rand Paul did was theater but it was necessary theater. He forced the issue in a public way while Cruz simultaneously forced the admission. I view this as their "lead or get out of the way", moment. I pray I'm right.
The article wasn’t about Cruz grilling Holder about using drones to kill Americans; rather it was about Rand Paul filibustering against Brennan (a muslim convert) to be head of the CIA.
Rand wasn’t talking non-stop to stop waterboarding, or any other type of muscle being used to get a terrorist to talk, he believes, as I do, that Brennan isn’t worthy of handling any sensitive position in the government. Given his credentials I don’t believe McDonalds would hire him to flip burgers.
Come to think of it the moronic nation destructor holed up in the White Hut hasn’t the qualifications to haul out the trash in a restaurant.
Toomey too? Ugh.
We are talking about American citizens SUSPECTED of terrorism. If the guy is about the push the button on a nuclear bomb detonator, of course you can take him out. But if he is walking the street, or home watching Piers Morgan, you try to take him alive, arrest and prosecute him.
If the POTUS can order drone attacks against U.S. Citizens who have not even been charged with a crime, he can take any of us out.
Well if I were the target of a drone attack, then clearly I would be beyond all understanding or suddenly everything would be instantly understood. However it still begs the question. If a police sniper removes an imminent threat is that a violation of “due process” and unconstitutional? If not then how is it any different if the police use a drone? Conservatives, especially our stars in the Senate, should be using their time hitting Obama on more pertinent issues. Such as the economic decline of America.
Several of those on that list also came to the Senate floor in support of Rand Paul, including my senator, Pat Toomey. Saxby Chambliss also came to the floor.
We need to refine the point.
The problem is not the bad guy holding a gun to the head of a hostage or some guy with a suitcase nuke.
The problem is that obumbler says or feels that he has the right to zap a terrorist on US soil.
That problem is compounded by the fact that obumbler and Holder have not defined what a terrorist is, and as I posted on another thread there is no accepted definition of the word terrorist that we can use as a guide for legal or any other purpose.
Further complicated by the witch Napolitano’s possible terrorist list which lists virtually everyone who might have any conservative leanings, including our military heroes.
Boiled down to a few words...obumbler feels that he alone can legally make all of the above distinctions, decisions and actions.
Not good and not the way our country operates.
Doesn’t matter...they were cozying up to Obama first, thereby negating their later appearance on the floor.
Clearly you are right to fear the vile potential of Obama and the people who serve him. However if he goes the complete Stalin ( designating the term “terrorist” the way Stalin used “enemy of the people”) then it won’t be the use domestic drones that will violate the constitution. It will be goons, government guns , prisons, torture and lots of barbed wire that will shred the venerable document.
To be fair Pat Toomey came to the floor both before and after the dinner to help out and Chambliss and Johnson both showed up Chambliss before and Johnson after the dinner.
