NRA campaign in high gear
POLITICO ^ | March 6, 2013 | ANNA PALMER

The National Rifle Association and its allies are kicking their lobbying forces into high gear as the Senate heads toward a vote that could remake key pieces of the country’s gun laws.

The gun lobby is taking its fight to Capitol Hill — stepping up meetings with old friends and trying to make inroads with a handful of swing Democrats in the Senate.

They’re also blanketing the airwaves, winding up their grass-roots machines, taking to social media and even, in the NRA’s case — sponsoring a NASCAR race at the Texas Motor Speedway and putting up new TV ads targeting black voters.

Their goal: thwart any move by the Senate to pass gun control legislation, with a special focus on universal background checks — an idea that has picked up steam.

Feel the love.

Propaganda. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Cheap, ugly and mean-spirited propaganda, at that.

Actually, I am quite pleased that the NRA has gone mainstream with its advertising. I am also impressed with the insert to the New York Times by the Second Amendment Org.

One of the sound bites that has traction with me is that protecting the second amendment is now a first amendment fight. It is.

Everyone who believes in the 2nd amendment should be posting to friends on social media, should be writing/calling elected officials and should be posting comment to Newspaper articles and general audience websites on the importance of the 2nd amendment, on who statics and studies quoted by those favoring gun control are suspect, when they are wrong and posting positive information on what is wrong with certain proposed laws and what would make them better.

It is not a time for silence. The sleeping giant needs to be awake and that is why these commercials are so good an idea.

Liberals are among the most ignorant people on earth.

Media liberals being more ignorant than most.

Any conservative expressing such ignorance (and malignant bias) would be laughed out of the movement. And right off the pages of Free Republic.

And we had many so-called conservatives who allowed the Marxist Muslim another 4 years to appoint more Kagan/Sotomayors to the USSC.

The events of the last few months has smoked the anti-gunners out of their holes and exposed their real agenda, total control and bans on firearms.

That is exactly what we have been saying for the last fifty years.

Back in 1968, gun owners, who were then mostly hunters, were blindsided by the anti-gun propaganda.

Today, many are now recreational shooters and know the schemes and dreams of the antis. The pro gun people are
HOPPING MAD! The gun owners will NOT go softly into that good night!

We have to face the fact that that leftist scum will never let up their attack on the 2nd Amendment. Allowing any of the cretins to remain in office is asking to have our God given and Constitutional rights restricted or removed.

It’s time the major firearms manufacturers become individual major sponsors or as a group sponsor a major race. Most NASCAR fans are firearms owners, shooters and hunters. It is time time go on offense.

PAY ATTENTION:

If you do not use the First Amendment to ensure the Second Amendment is not infringed,
you will rue the day you need to use the Second Amendment to regain the First Amendment.

The 2nd is the main reason the 1st is possible. If we don’t insist on protecting the 2nd we will lose the 1st.

I agree with the notion that we need to speak out. I am running into conservatives who are shutting down their opinions in public for fear of being put on some list or watched by the DHS even. As if that were true they would not already be targeted.

We need to be screaming from the rooftops about the constitution and our rights. If we let the left marginalized us by labeling us a domestic terrorist label to patriots who just want our rights protected, then we will assist the left in controlling us; the threat of being accused of “hate speech” or “thought” crime will be then effective and we will have let them strip us of our power.

It isn’t illegal to think. It isn’t illegal to speak. Don’t let the left, who are the real threat to our rights, silence us: in fact, turn up the volume!
