A state judge on Monday stopped Mayor Michael Bloomberg's administration from banning the sale of large sugary drinks at New York City restaurants and other venues, a major defeat for a mayor who has made public-health initiatives a cornerstone of his tenure.

Found an error in paragraph 3 on the second page. Looks like the author should go for a remedial class as well. My graduating class was 2003, and I didn’t know many that couldn’t read (a double negative, so what).

Social promotion needs to end, completely. I would imagine that may be how I moved on once or twice. My high school years were rough on me.

My folks in North GA used to refer to such as “half-backs”-they all retire and proceed to move to Florida, realize they don’t like it (or maybe FL don’t like them-?), and then they move half way back.
But here’s the kicker: nearly each and every one of them wants the local government ran “just like it was where they came from”.

Actually Bloomie very much realizes those poorly educated kids are going to be his next generation of supporters. It’s a winning strategy.

your folks were smart and I see you’e from GA and yes I go there a lot, actually Lee county and there is an infestation of liberal yankees there too., infact all over GA and the south.

I honestly wish they would stay where they belong and live in the cess pit they created by their votes.
Then they might understand that their driving, lack of manners, their liberal logic hurts them and not others

How about implementing a law to eliminate stupidity.

The judge struck down the law because it was poorly written, he did not say "The state has no business regulating things like this!".

Judges tend to rule on the minimum necessary -- in this case, the fact that the regulation was improperly drafted and implemented is a simpler decision (since it's clear-cut) than going into the merits of the regulation itself.

This allowed the judge to provide the relief requested by the petitioner without setting a more general precedent. Perhaps it sounds a bit cowardly for judges to do this, but I'd much rather see judges under-reach than over-reach as a general rule.

“Exactly, stay there. Don’t come south and try and make us like where you left”

Too late by 152 years.

Incidentally, people in my once-rural area have long bemoaned the “city people” moving out and then demanding all the services(and high taxes) they left behind, while complaing about the smells and noises of farming. But the rural old-timers alway sell their property to the city folk because they can afford to pay more than struggling young rural folk.

Most people have a price-—and it is depressingly low!

Bloomburg thinks he will win on appeal. What are the chances of this happening?
