IRVING, TX, March 11, 2013, (LifeSiteNews.com) – The Boy Scouts of America are asking for citizens across the country to express their opinion about the BSA's policy barring open homosexuals from joining the group as members or scoutmasters.
In a tiny link at the top of their website, the Scouts announced their review of the policy. A second link simply asks readers, “Share your feedback.”
Last July, the 100-year-old outdoor group announced it would maintain its moral standards for members and leaders. However, in January the national scouting organization bowed to pressure to reconsider the policy.
A decision was expected last month. However, roughly 20 percent of the youth members' councils asked for the decision to be delayed until May, when 1,400 members can vote at their upcoming meeting in Grapevine, Texas.
The BSA issued a statement at the time saying “due to the complexity of this issue, the organization needs time for a more deliberate review of its membership policy."

Texas Governor Rick Perry, himself an Eagle Scout, stated that he hopes Scout leaders “will follow their historic position of keeping the Scouts strongly supportive of the values that make scouting this very important and impactful organization.”
More than 60 prominent Texas state lawmakers, including U.S. Congressman Kenny Marchant, added their support last week, signing a statement calling on the Scouts to maintain the scouting tradition for future generations.
“Capitulating to the liberal social agenda not only undermines the very principles of scouting, but sets the stage for the erosion of an organization that has defined the American experience for generations of young men,” they write. “We urge you to protect all that scouting has been, and all that it can remain.”
Those who favor repealing the ban have also not been hesitant to make their views known.
In addition to homosexual lobbying groups, high-profile figures have called for the repeal of the ban on open homosexuality for scoutmasters and members. It was one of the issues that Barack Obama and Mitt Romney agreed on in the 2012 presidential race.
The heritage of scouting was so important to the body's executive leadership that the Boy Scouts won a 5-4 Supreme Court decision recognizing the right of private organizations to determine their own membership policies in 2000.

The scout oath includes the phrase “morally straight”. To include gays would either require dropping that phrase or declaring that anything anyone wants to do is moral.
Gay Scout Leaders and gay Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts will corrupt the troops and packs and impose legal and financial liability on the BSA.
They will need to add the term “sexually straight” to the Oath.
Well, I sent my input. If they change their policy we are going Boys’ Brigade or similar.

It was about what I expected, maybe not quite as bad. First, I was asked whether I approved of the current policy. Then I was asked about a number of scenarios featuring holy homosexuals and their supportive chartering organizations. Then I was asked if I had changed my initial reaction to the current policy.
Noticeably missing from the scenarios is this much more likely one: "John and his son James joined the Boy Scouts of America relying upon the expressed policy of standing for traditional morality. After the national organization caved to big money corporate interests and sacrificed the youth of America on the altar of political correctness, John and James could not renounce the teachings of their church and the chartering organization and were forced to withdraw from Scouting. How do you feel about this?"
Nevertheless, I made my beliefs known and received a response along the lines of, "It appears you are concerned about the current direction of Scouting. Would you like a local Council representative to contact you?"
I indicted I would. I suppose our local reps feel much the same as me, but I will tell them what I believe, if I ever hear from them.

I understand BSA is now asking for feedback on the Gay issue. It is also my understanding that such feedback has been sought now for over 2 years, and the RIGHT answer was given some time ago. Now you are asking again? Make no mistake about this. If BSA capitulates to the gay rights agenda, Scouting will die a very painful and quick death in America. America needs leadership right now! It’s looking more and more like BSA is unwilling to stand up to the pressure. STAND ON PRINCIPLE!!! NOT ON STUPID Web feedback requests that you KNOW the gay rights activists are going to FLOOD with pro-gay, ANTI-GOD, and morally corrupt thinking that contradicts EVERYTHING that Scouting is about. Take a stand, and STAY THERE!... put your faith in GOD... not feedback results! We talk a lot about Faith in God in Scouting. Well, It’s time to put some of that faith to a test. Stand your ground. Trust God. Watch and see how HE will bless Scouting as a result.

As an Eagle Scout my opinion is: If the organization has to ask, it has already lost its way. There must be core values that cannot be compromised. If compromising the core values is even under consideration, the organization is dead.

Ethics, morals, patriotism and self-reliance are not determined by a popularity poll, in a society seriously infected by perverts and their growing army of supporters.

Seriously, does there need to be discussion of this at all? This is how the BSA will spin their ultimate decision to allow homosexuals to prey on young children: “Well, we listened to everyone so this is a public decision supported by the majority.”

The Boy Scouts should not have gay scoutmasters for the same reason why we should have straight male leaders of girl scouts that aren’t the dads. Too much potential trouble.

I was a Boy Scout, my son is an Eagle Scout.
I do not think scouting is sexual.
My son, who was declared by his Sgt. Major, to be the smartest man in the Army was not the most popular kid in his class, but his peers in the scouts made him his reluctant choice for their patrol and Sr. patrol leader. He was kind of a geek, but I don’t think his behavior was a sexual thing.
My wife designates all of her United Way contributions to the Boy Scouts. I bought two packages of Scout Fair tickets today. If the Boy Scouts seek to normalize homosexual behavior, our family will not support scouting.
Chances are they know what will happen if they allow homos. I bet they are just trying to get a rough estimate of exactly how much money/scouts they will lose if they do this. Maybe money will be a primary factor in what keeps BSA the same as always. They are also not figuring in how much insurance rates will go up/triple after kids start getting molested.
My daughter is in American Heritage Girls, the conservative alternative to the Boy Scouts. The girls can go to a few things like Camporee, but have to sleep separate to ensure that there is no risk of sexual interaction.
If boys and girls are separate to protect them, so too should homosexuals and boys be separate.
As Mark Davis, a talk show host, has said, there should be no risk of sexual attraction between adults and children on a campout - regardless of the gender or sexual orientation of those attending.
Incidentally, some of The “Blue on Green” incidents in Afghanistan are due to US soldiers teasing the Afghanis about being gay. The Afghan culture mirrors the Greek culture when Alexander conquered them 2500 years ago. Male leaders use boys as sex puppets, but they deny that they are homosexual.
I’m afraid of this reliance on an online survey / contact us form. Too easily spammed to give a “go homo” vote. And not enough to get a true opinion of the parents whose children are at risk.

Homosexuality has nothing whatsoever to do with being a Scout! Nothing! What difference does it make if Johnny's fellow Scouts know that he's Gay? Nothing...except of course making them uncomfortable in certain situations. This is nothing more than the radical, militant, Homosexuals trying to shove their perversion down the throats of young boys!
These Queers have two options as I see it:
1) Start their own Queer Scouting Program
2) Join and keep their perversion to themselves.

Same here, class of 19xx. We won Dale vs. BSA in 2000, so there is no legal reason to forfeit the member’s right to associate with whom they please, as indicated by entry requirements.
The BSA is a private organization with a 100-year old heritage. The BSA doesn’t have to be a government-mandated social experiment (like the US military has become).
Anyone on the national council who votes for this is putting money ahead of integrity and the protection of children.
I don’t think scouting is “sexual” either, but the Scouting Handbook definitely addresses issues of a sexual nature, including masturbation.
Are you prepared to see the Scouting Handbook for boys re-written to accomodate the acceptance of homosexual copulation practices? I wretch just thinking about it...
Adolescents are at a critical time in their sexual development — do we want openly homosexual men to be their role models?
While you’re considering it, what about atheists? Are you prepared to see the Scout Oath and Scout Law re-written to accomodate atheism?
If atheism is accepted into Scouting then what moral foundation remains?
I don’t know about you, but I say HELL NO to the admission of both homosexuals and atheists in the BSA.
I’m a Scoutmaster, founder of a troop, father of two Scouts, one of whom just got approved for his Eagle project tonight. My opinion is to change nothing and to keep this organization just as it is. There are other “inclusive” scouting type organizations. Utter failures with little active participation.
That said, the leaders of Scouts are idiots if they are asking for input from anyone.
They need to put out a very simple two question survey
1. Do you believe BSA should allow open homosexual leaders?
2. What is your Boy Scout Leader Identification Number?
Everyone else, I’m sorry but your opinion does not count.

don’t try to give yourself cover or an excuse to change your mind based on what others tell you.
