Bobby Jindal slayed ‘em at the Gridiron Club Dinner

I’m a couple days late on this, but I was hoping some tape might by chance turn up. The Gridiron dinner is off-the-record and closed to most reporters, but we generally see clips of the president and presidential candidates doing their routines. (Clarification: I stated this badly. Obviously, there’s lots of press at the dinner because it’s a club for journalists. I just meant they’re not there reporting on it.)

Word is Gov. Bobby Jindal killed. He “outquip[ped] Obama” and was a “big hit.” Sadly, since there is no tape from this dinner, it won’t provide the redemption it should from his 2009 SOTU response, at which he poked fun in his speech.

A few of them are groaners, but overall, the jokes are good enough, I thought I’d let y’all read the whole speech, even if you can’t see it. I think my favorite is the Elizabeth Warren line. Twitchy covered the limited leaks from the dinner at the time.

I posted the Twitchy article a few days ago, with more limited comments, but I thought you might enjoy this fuller transcript of Jindal's remarks in case you need a humor break today.

I would LOVE to see a video of this, he had the gloves totally off and there wasn’t a thing anyone could do about it! He was rubbing their faces in it.

Part of me is kinda glad there is no audio/video of the event. The media would pay top dollar for a copy so they could cut out a couple phrases and take them out of context to make Jindal look bad.

Then again, they seem pretty well distracted by Jeb Bush so maybe Jindal is safe for now.

Had me in stitches just from reading it. Had I been there in person, iI probably would have wet my pants from laughing so hard!
