I am impressed that he stood up to the government and went into exile.

Catholicism is a revealed religion. We do not believe it is something humans came up with, it is something given to humanity by God. The Catholic Church's only role in this world is to faithfully transmit that revelation down through history so that people in each generation have a chance to hear the Gospel.

There are other revealed religions, islam is one. Muslims hold to the teachings of the koran as the revealed word of God. Yet I don't detect the same hostility to their resistance to change from the left. In fact, the left bends to islam when it refuses to change.

Now, the Argentinian govt is going to play all nicey-nice. The people there ought to not let them forget how he was treated.

Erin Burnett is anti-Catholic and an anti-Semite. She thinks that we should look beyond that Egyptian woman’s Jew-hatred and that this country should have honored her anyway. The worst that the left has to offer...and that’s saying a LOT.

The new Pope, and Rush - two men that the liberal media can’t corrupt, and dearly hate.

Interesting story, indeed, about how Cristina Kirchner exiled him—which, of course, she could not have done without the complicity of the Jesuit leadership.

Like most members of religious orders, Jesuits take an oath to obey their superiors. So, he did what they told him to do—teaching math in the boondocks. Until Pope JP II made him a bishop and thus, in effect, released him from the order, and from being ordered around by his Jesuit superiors. Only the Pope could do that, I believe.

One of the tasks Pope JP II had to deal with when he took office was the heretics who were busy promoting “Communion and Liberation” in South America after Vatican 2, and probably that’s how he found himself allied with the man who is now Pope Francis. That Communist movement was extremely widespread and powerful down there, but JP II managed to rein it in.

I’m also impressed with the extent to which Rush has informed himself about the Catholic Church—something not many people in the media, even the conservative media, have even tried to do.

An excellent summary on his part.

“Now, the Argentinian govt is going to play all nicey-nice. The people there ought to not let them forget how he was treated.”

The Pope has the leg up now on the Argentinian gov’t. It is the big loser now. My how the worm turns. The Pope will advocate against everything the Kirchner gov’ advocates for, and he will be doing it publicly, and to a huge audience, a huge Latino audience. Who do you think the majority of Argentinians will be listening to, Kirchner or their Latin Pope? Hah. Pope 1, Kirchner 0.

While “Communion and Liberation" sounds a lot like "Liberation Theology", it is my understanding that it is a properly ordered reaction AGAINST Marxism. I just learned about it yesterday, but orthodox Catholics I know from Latin America were very happy to hear that Pope Francis is a C&L devotee.

I kindly - and non-sarcastically - suggest doing some further research on the subject before posting. (I mean to say this with less bite, but I want to get the news out quickly that C&L may actually be a good thing.)

So the Pope is Catholic.
Who knew?

Funny thing is that makes a lot of Catholics in the US mad (and a lot of them happy).

This should be intesting when Biden comes to call.
