Understatement!!! Flags, omens, Obama...

Workers raised thousands of flags on streetlamps in and around the capital along routes that the president will take during his three-day visit, which begins on Wednesday next week.

A Jerusalem Municipality official in charge of maintenance explained that the stitching on the flags was in the wrong place, allowing them to be attached to the poles only the wrong way up.

Section 8a of the United States Flag Code states, “The flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.”

I haven't been able to locate a photo yet. They are sure to appear soon enough.

Since the stitching was incorrect, the specifications must have been off. Poor foundation.

At what point, I wondered, did someone realize that something was amiss? But went ahead and kept putting them up anyway... I was thinking not only of the symbolism, but also about (trying to be delicate) gov’t workers just putting the flags up.
