Thousands Of Gun Rights Activists Show Up a Few Dozen Anti-Rights Activists

Hartford, Connecticut --(Ammoland.com)- Once again, thousands of pro-liberty activists descended on the Legislative Office Building in Hartford.

They were met by a Public Safety and Security Committee that was mostly absent from the hearing, legislators that noticeably disappeared when Colt Manufacturing dropped off busloads of employees that filled the building.

They were also met by handful of anti-rights activists who were quickly overwhelmed by the thousands of pro-rights activists in attendance.

This is not surprising. The January rally of pro-rights activists netted thousands of people that filled the entire back half of the Capitol Building. When the anti-rights activists later held a rally, they ended up with a quarter of the attendance, despite the inaccurate media reports to the contrary.

On Monday, there was a pro-liberty ‘Lobby Day’ where over three thousand activists showed up and tried to track down their legislators. The governor fled Hartford and instead lobbied in New London, avoiding the possibility of confronting people head on about the issues he wants to legislate against. But that is OK. The governor’s job is not to hear from or represent the people. Then again, his job is also not to develop or promote legislation either.

On Wednesday, there was an anti-rights ‘Lobby Day’ where ‘dozens’ of people showed up, although photos and video from the event showed approximately ‘a dozen’. These people were welcomed warmly by legislators, despite being in the clear minority. The bias is evident.

Today, March 14th 2013, thousands of people packed the legislative office building to express their pro-liberty stances. Very few anti-rights activists were present. This should be clear evidence of the public’s opinion about this issue.

The legislature and the governor are very incorrect that we are some sort of minority or ‘fringe of the fringe’.

‘fringe of the fringe’?

hee hee hee

I think the “fringe” (majority gun supporters) are going to “singe” the A$$ off some ComDemPols.

Colorado has 2 recall petitions in full force and there are a lot of very angry citizens. These will be motivated voters who WILL CAST BALLOTS.

This should be clear evidence of the public’s opinion about this issue.

Not in Connecticut. Not even remotely close to being remotely true. In fact, gun owners in Connecticut BARELY oppose many impending restrictions. Colt bussing in the entire 1st shift yesterday looked great on TV, but actually had a negative effect on public opinion. It is viewed as a cheap trick. The meme here now is, "Sam Colt was an inventive genius. Time for Colt to hire some inventive geniuses and move on." Seriously.

Honestly, the only reason there has been no legislative action yet is because of the large and historic gun industry here.

We have had the numbers at all these meetings/hearings/rallies. Regardless of the overwhelming outrage of the gun owners, the pols are going to do what they want to do. Very, very few antis spoke at these hearings...gues they were afraid of the gun owners.

**Rep. Minnie Gonzalez, D-Hartford: “I don’t know what’s going to happen with this bill, but right now I’m saying that I don’t think that it’s fair if we give you guys the opportunity to come here and express yourself because at the end of the day we’re going to make this decision and maybe you’ll like it, maybe you won’t,” she said. “If you guys don’t like us, then you vote against us.’’**

I can name over a DOZEN states that would LOVE to be home for Colt.
And though I generally object to them, I’d be all for some tax incentives to help Colt defray the cost of the relocation.

And Marlin and Mossberg and Ruger and Stag... all in Connecticut. At the same time this is happening, the same lawmakers are pushing the Feds hard to declare Coltsville (where Sam Colt began the business in the south end of Hartford) a National Historic Park.

Duuuhh...because firearms are forbidden in National Parks?

(Is the < /sarc > tag really necessary?)

“A double-minded man is unstable in ALL his ways.”

That’s also true for states and entire nations.

All we can do is put some sane adults in office in 2014. The alternative is too grim to contemplate.

Guns are legal in National Parks, for about a year or two now...you just have to comply with state law.
