Ukip steals a march on Tories - Telegraph

David Cameron is given a warning of the threat posed by the rise of the United Kingdom Independence Party as he enters a critical phase in the life of his government.

An ICM opinion poll for The Sunday Telegraph shows that a key group of Right-of-centre voters are much more attracted to Ukip’s policies on immigration, government spending and same-sex marriage than to the Tories’ stance on the issues.

This same group — made up of those who have yet to decide which of the two parties to support — also rates Ukip’s Nigel Farage as a better party leader than the Prime Minister. The group make up one in 10 of all voters and their support is crucial to Mr Cameron’s chances of electoral success.

From what I can tell the UKIP is a lot like the Tea Party in the same way the Tea Party is a thorn in the side of the establishment big government Republicans and the Tea Party is shaking things up.

Could be that the Conservatives in the UK are sick of the Tories promising to be conservative and then governing with a socialist bent...?

Could what is happening with the UKIP be what WILL happen with the Tea Party soon?

My understanding is that the tea party is a movemen within the republican party, whereas Ukip is a party in its own right which is just going to steal votes from the Tories an let Labour in.

As long as the Tories or the GOP consider certain votes as their own property, they will ignore the needs of those voters and cater to other voters. The result is that liberalism will win regardless of which party is in power. Conservatives must fight the liberals of both parties. Staying on the plantation just helps liberalism.

It’s a little different in the UK in that a majority coalition has to be formed. So, unless UKIP allies with labour, labour does not benefit at all.

It’s parliamentary, so they can form coalitions.
Third parties are far more viable in that system.

UKIP says they’d do a coalition if the Conservatives dump their leader.

The UKIP and its head Nigel Farage ROCK! The UKIP is the only party in UK, aka Great Britain, that is for the people of the UK (Great Britain).

And for that matter it's the only party in the UK (Great Britain) that's for it remaining the UK (Great Britain) and not some pissant 'member state' of the EU paying homage to a bunch of unelected bureaucrats -- most 'ex'-felons and 'ex'-communists --- sitting in Brussels, and from bowing down to some bullsh*t EU flag.

Naturally, since Nigel Farage tells it like it is and believes in Freedom, Democracy, and a 'Country being a Country' - those Border thingys - he and his UKIP have been labeled by the left wing socialist and communist euro-weenies as: Racist, Homophobic, Xenophobic, fill-in-the-blank__phobic, and ... (ta-da) ... NAZIS! (gee that sounds familiar). The lefty Brit newspapers are an absolute hoot when they go off with a NY Slimes type rant on him and/or the UKIP -- only with better grammar and spelling, naturally :-)

The fact is (IMHO) that Nigel Farage would make a great Conservative Politician here in the US (cough-Tea Party) but he kind of has his hands full trying to save Great Britain from all the Tyrants trying to destroy freedom and democracy in Europe.
(note: nope, don't know about any pro gun pro-2A type stance. this is England after all)

Search YouTube for videos of Nigel Farage speaking at the EU 'parliament'. Then sit back and enjoy him dressing down the wanna be tyrants. His one speech to Herman Van Rompuy is CLASSIC!: 'Who In The Hell Do You Think You Are!'. Nigel's also appeared with Glenn Beck on Blaze TV.

Maybe you can tell but I've been following Nigel Farage for years and even tried to donate to the UKIP. But unlike Obama & the RATS no foreign donations are accepted by the UKIP.

Note: Nigel Farage is not a Career Politician. He was 'highly educated' (Best Schools) and his profession was in Finance. But at one point he just couldn't take the road GB was going down any longer and was determined to stop it (cough - Tea Party).

The Bly way votes are stolen is through fraud of some kind. Are you accusing the UKIP of election fraud?

You're a true voice of the establishment. "...steal votes from the Tories an let Labour in." The Tories don't own the votes, they must earn them. The Tories are losing votes the old-fashioned way, by not implementing policies desired by their voters. The Tories have stabbed a significant portion of potential voters in the back and you say the nerve of those back-stabbed voters to take it personally and go somewhere else. Whose fault is this? In your view, it's the fault of the ungrateful voters, who don't take the slop their fed with a smile and a bowed back.

There's no future in your strategy.

If voters keep voting Tories in to keep Labour out, what is the differnce in the end, when Tories implement Labour policies?

We've seen the same thing here over the decades with the GOP.

British general elections to Westminster use the first-past-the-post system, or FPTP. In this system, the candidate with the most votes wins the seat. By taking votes away from the Conservative candidate and giving it to UKIP, it means that the Lib-Dem or Labour candidate is more likely to win the seat by gaining more votes than the other candidates. UKIP cannot win the election, at best, it could only a couple of seats under this system (most UKIP sympathisers, including myself, will vote tactically for the Tories in order to keep Labour out).

I would say to those who would prefer to vote UKIP that if the Tories don’t get in, the consequence will by at least 5 years of Labour misrule, during which time they will be introducing more bonkers big-brother, big government policies. Say what you like about the Tories with their gay marriage and other social liberal BS. At least they have gone against Labour’s impulse to try and turn Britain into North Korea Lite. The have refused to implement statutory legislation to restrict freedom of the press via the Leveson inquiry for example, whereas Labour and the Lib-Dims have been screaming for it. Rest assured that freedom of speech and freedom in general will suffer if Labour get in

Is 5 years of Labour quasi-stalinism worth it?

Gee. All the Tories have to do is co-opt enough of the UKIP’s platform to gain their votes - but they won’t do that will they?
So let the Labour pukes win, until the Tories learn better, or until the UKIP has enough force to shove them aside. Because, from the US viewpoint, there isn’t a whole heck of a lot of difference between “Tory” and “Labour.”

UKIP is no more “damaging” to the Tories than the Lib-Dems are to Labour. Frankly, if I were in the UK, I’d likely be pretty darn close to a single issue voter to get out of the EU. The EU is the most Fundamental threat to the peoples’ sovereignty that we have seen since the Vikings were raiding 1,200 years ago. I could not, in my conscience, vote for a Tory that had any intention of trying to work things out with the Germans and the Technocrats. There are some short-term differences between the Tories and Labour on taxes and social issues, but this issue is the one that really pulls the strings on the fundamental function of government and self-determination.
