Iraq: The Spies Who Fooled the World
BBC News ^ | 18th March 2013 | Peter Taylor

Posted on 03/17/2013 9:02:46 PM PDT by the scotsman

'The lies of two Iraqi spies were central to the claim - at the heart of the UK and US decision to go to war in Iraq - that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction. But even before the fighting started, intelligence from highly-placed sources was available suggesting he did not, Panorama has learned.'

Whaddaya know . . . the Beeb tells the same story as Der Spiegel but five years too late. At least they do not omit the references to the BND.

Weapons of Mass Destruction are NOT ONLY Nuclear but Chemical..
Iraq had and used Chemical weapons.. is a well known FACT.. it is not speculation..

Propagandists love to link WOMD with a Nuclear threat..
to make the whole conversation “FUZZY”..
Whether Saddam had Nuclear weapons is a red herring argument..

It is a known fact he had Chemical weapons.. HE USED THEM!... on Kurds and the Iranians..
Never did I hear that used as an argument to diffuse the liberals..
He HAD and USED weapons of mass destruction.. several times..

Really ..??

Well, I have a picture on my computer of all the “yellow cake” that we all knew Sadaam had .. and it was finally found - in Iraq. However, I guess the Bush admin didn’t want to start the jawboning about it again and so I have a picture, but no acknowledgement by the world that we actually did find it.

While I’m not Powell’s fan, he did tell the truth. And .. a whole bunch of other nations had the very same intel we had about the yellow cake that Sadaam bought in Niger.

I am sorry, BBC, but Saddam gave us permission to send him to the afterlife when he signed the original cease-fire, then proceeded to violate it with RADAR lock-ons and refusing UN weapons inspectors. In fact, everyone was on board when Clinton fired 900+ missiles into Iraq to help cover the Lewinski “problem.”

Get real.

Hussein violated the cease-fire in numerous ways. Not the least of which was obstructing the weapons inspectors.

The BBC has been heavily biased in favor of the anti-war movement ever since the start of the war. An independent investigation confirmed this, and the top two executives at the BBC resigned in disgrace, but they still slant their coverage, just not as obviously.

While I’m not Powell’s fan, he did tell the truth. And .. a whole bunch of other nations had the very same intel we had about the yellow cake that Sadaam bought in Niger.

Indeed, the man who gained liberal fame by publishing a New York Times column headlined "What I didn't find in Niger" -- Joe Wilson, remember him? -- was absolutely convinced Hussein had WMD. From December, 2001 thru March, 2002, he was lecturing on college campuses all over California arguing against intervention in Iraq because he knew that Saddam had WMD...and would use them.

Later, of course, Joe Wilson made his famous mint-tea sipping journey to Niger and reported that it was impossible for Hussein to have obtained yellow-cake from Niger.

He was wrong, of course, since the contraband yellow-cake found in both Iraq and Libya was sourced to Niger.

Thus, Valerie Plame's husband earns the distinction of being dead-ass wrong multiple times.

We didn't "find" Yellowcake in Iraq - everyone knew Iraq had it and where it was, and it was under seal and regularly inspected by the IAEA, and they were legally allowed to have it.

The Yellowcake was NOT one of the Bush administration's justifications for war with Iraq.

Saddam Hussein himself publicly stated that he had Weapons of Mass Destruction.

The general consensus (in a wide variety of books and articles, and I can confirm this personally from other people I know including the head of USMC intel during the war) is that Hussein deliberately gave the false impression he had WMD to help deter countries like Iran.

I always thought that Saddam thought he had nukes. This guy and his nut job sons were notorious for rape rooms and tossing people into wood chippers. And one son killed the soccer team for not winning a gold Olympic medal. I would not want to have to tell him that we couldn’t make a nuclear weapon. I would be telling him whatever he wanted to hear and have plans in place to flee when he decides to use nukes.

Lie about having WMD's at your own risk. No one should feel any obligation to correctly assess the veracity of these claims before taking them out, as we did.

If there's a maniac in the street who looks like he's holing a gun and threatening to kill me, I won't find any fault with the cop who shoots him dead, even if afterwards it turns out that it was actually a toy gun.

When I have brought up this particular point, it is to demonstrate the stupidity of the left. President Bush was convinced that Iraq had WMD. He had valid suspicions, in part because the leader of Iraq publicly SAID he had such weapons. Yet the left vilified President Bush!

Look I remember the time as do many many others. Saddam would not allow the UN weapons inspectors to do their jobs and did many other things that raised suspicions. Also, right before the invasion, a huge convoy appeared to be moving the weapons to Syria. Let’s not rewrite history here, the dude had weapons of mass destruction, had used them against the Kurdish civilians in his own country and had threatened to use them again. Nice try you liars in the British press.

Bush, Powell, Cheney, and Rice all lied. They were delighted to have Iraqi con men who could be rolled out to terrorize the American people and defraud them into supporting a war that was never — never — about WMDs. The blood of hundreds of thousands, and the destruction of ancient Christian communities is on their hands. Villains and wretches, all of them.
