The NRA was founded by a number of former senior military commanders in the Union Army who were appalled at the lack of shooting skills in the young men who had entered service (most of them from northern cities and had no idea how to shoot) during the Civil War). It was formed in 1871.
Good, you are clearly aware of the number of former union high-ranking military officers in leadership positions after it was founded in 1871.
