Who are the groups all of a sudden or for all times who need protection? Gays, they need to be liberated by the government. Blacks, Hispanics, women, left-handed people, you name it. Anyone they can claim is being discriminated against and who must be protected by government, can then be liberated by government. So the Democrats set themselves up as these great liberators, when in fact they stigmatize people. They make them members of groups, they plug them into these groups, and they cease to exist as individuals.
It's also coming under the umbrella of freedom. This is something that concerns me, because I think "freedom" is being misapplied or maybe incorrectly defined. Freedom does not mean hedonism. Freedom does not mean the sybaritic pursuits, "Just do what you want.
These people really do believe that those of us who are not liberals want to constrain them from having a good time. We want to punish them if they have a good time. We want to deny them fun. We are rock rigid, and then after that we are judgmental -- and why is that? Well, because they view us as people with a moral code, and they don't want a moral code. A moral code itself is punishing! A moral code has lines beyond which you're not supposed to go, and that's not fun.

I’m glad Rush is pointing this out. It is to the point that even though the research is very clear and has been for years that homosexuality is overall a harmful lifestyle at least as harmful as other increasingly verboten things like smoking and big gulps but we can’t even speak honestly about it and the irony is that those that suffer the most are those caught up in the lifestyle. Now they are pushing to prevent those who have unwanted same sex desires from having access to therapy. It doesn’t matter than those who indulge in non herosexual behavior are several times more likely to have been molested and it is common knowledge that abuse often results in sexual imprinting which leaves a victim with unwanted desires, feelings, etc. It does just happen with same sex of course but the same issues that are far more common in sex abuse victims are far more prevalent in the gay community also. Suicide, alcohol/drug abuse, acting out, inability to form long standing relationships, etc. If you are an academic or professional and dare bring these things up you can expect to be crucified and if by some chance you do keep your job you will find your grants drying up and papers no longer getting published.
The study by Mark Regnerus which showed a prevalance of negative outcomes for children raised by gays as well as challenged many of the assumptions about the gay community that they are more well off etc was greeted with a firestorm even though it was truly the first scientific study of its kind that applied unbiased scientific principles like random samples etc to prevent the kind of bias in which survey participiants not only are selected from non representative self selected samples such as high income professional gays to having the surveys being taken with the participiant knowledge of what the survey is testing for. So lesbian Moms know they are getting a survey that is meant to judge their success as Lesbian Moms. Much like global warming though the idea that real science might get in the way of political outcomes gay activists and their allies dont have anything to gain from non biased science or non biased dialog on the subject and this is a dangerous thing.
