Governor Dannel Malloys handpicked commission on Sandy Hook is calling for some of the strongest gun-control measures in the nation, including the banning or possession of any gun that can fire more than 10 bullets without reloading.
The ban would be among the most far-reaching in the United States and comes in direct reaction to the use of a military-style assault rifle and 30-round magazines in the massacre of 20 children and six adult educators three months ago in Newtown.
This prohibition would extend to military-style firearms as well as handguns, the commissions report says. Law enforcement and military would be exempt from this ban.
The commissions chairman, Hamden Mayor Scott Jackson, noted in a letter to Malloy that some of the 42 recommendations are controversial.

that some most of the 42 recommendations are controversial unconstitutional.

If this makes sense....then why not go all the way and just say we can only purchase one-shot guns. You have to reload each and every time. And even force the cops to have the same type of weapons. Drive-by shootings would end up with one shot fired at best (unless you were in a Pacer, then maybe two shots fired).

Can’t almost any gun fire more than 10 bullets/ I guess not a shot gun.

Or the shooter was ignorant of the law and employed a 50-round drum, not realizing he was breaking the law.

Because they fear you. They fear you because they are criminals looting the Treasury and the next generation, and if enough of you ever figure that out, you will remove them by force of arms, and probably kill them.

They just want to protect hard-working burglars and rapists from crazy gun nuts. What’s wrong with that? /s

Colt, marlin, USFA, Ruger and any other CT manufacturers. Time to move your operations completely out of the state.

Almost Any semi auto with a removable magazine can have mags
Fabricated with lots of rounds. It is in the mag not the gun.
Many Tubular mag shotguns can have the tube extended for more rounds.

An old Marlin Glenfield 60 from 1978 holds 18+1 .22lr cartridges.
I guess that old squirrel rifle is now an ‘assault weapon.’
No, wait, according to Ms. Feinstein we’re supposed to say ‘weapon of war’ now. Sorry.

I was wondering if any of you know if the ability to fire more than 10 rounds will ban all 10 round magazines, as with one in the pipe they have the ability to fire 11 rounds without a reload. This would be a big issue for a large percentage of the .45’s such as Glock, Taurus, and dozens of other pistols. And yes, I know that you can even buy extended magazines for pistols such as Colt and many others bringing their loaded capacity from 8 or 9 (with a round chambered) over the supposed 10 limit. I think the key phrase in this gun grab is “The ability to fire more than 10 rounds without a reload”. Taken literally, that would wipe out the legality to own damn near all semi-auto handguns. After that I suppose they will limit Sixshooter Wheel-guns to 5 rounds. Ooops - Forgot about the 5 rounders - The Judge and many other 5 round revolvers. Guess we eventually will be down to 4 rounds max, which will disarm the American Citizen of 95% of their Self-Defense Tools. Won't even get into the Rifle laws on deck, as I haven't had my coffee yet and I hate to ponder such UNCONSTITUTIONAL Tyranny without my coffee and a cig. Other 5% will be the Thugs and other various criminal elements that will still carry whatever they want - as they don't obey any of those STEEEN'KIN Laws.

"Law enforcement and military would be exempt from this ban"
Why? Studies show they can be at least as deranged as the average non-military/LEO citizen.
Could the Libtards explain their rationale?

So much for my idea that state legislatures, and Governors are the last bastion of defense for the American people against an out of control federal leviathan. Looks like that depends (no pun intended) on what state you live in. Hopefully there are more that hold the line than the other kind.

...including the banning or possession of any gun that can fire more than 10 bullets without reloading. So a single-shot shotgun would be illegal.

Just about any gun which utilizes an external and retractable magazine will become illegal. Also, some tube fed guns such as some 22’s. this law would wipe out a bunch of guns for sure - which is its intent.
