Shocked shows canceled in wake of anti-gay tirade

Singer Michelle Shocked's words about gays are coming back to haunt her.

By late Monday evening, hours after the spread of news about Michelle Shocked's anti-gay tirade at Yoshi's San Francisco, most venues on her national Short Sharp Shocked tour - including Los Angeles, Santa Cruz, Napa, Portland, Eugene, Boulder and Chicago - had canceled.

Mike Green, communications director of the Kings Place Music Foundation, under whose auspices she was to play in London, wrote to inquiring reader Lisa Woolf that they'd been in contact with her agent in Europe "and will speak with him as soon as possible, but it is very unlikely that she will tour again after what has happened. I must say that it's very unfortunate for all involved."

“I live in fear that the world will be destroyed if gays are allowed to marry,” Shocked told the crowd at Yoshi’s, according to San Francisco news site, sfist.

She reportedly added: “You can go on Twitter and say ‘Michelle Shocked says God hates f**s.”

She’s a friend of mine on Facebook, and I posted a message of support for her. Of course the slimeballs attacked me, using the typical accusations of hate and intolerance. I replied that as a Christian I beieve you love the sinner but hate the sin.

  That's something to think about. The phrase 'marriage equality' is certainly Orwellian. Few people argue with it, but it's really a push to say that there is nothing at all special about what we know is a unique and sacred relationship between one man and one woman. If someone states the obvious and says that marriage is special, then they are called bigots. We live in very strange times.
