As Gas Prices Spike, Obama Recycles Failed Policies
Investor's Business Daily ^ | 03/19/2013 | IBD Staff

Cost Of Green: The same day the government blamed high fuel prices for February's inflation spike, President Obama unveiled his latest idea: Waste billions more taxpayer dollars on the same failed "green" energy programs.

Pump prices have climbed 40 cents a gallon since the start of the year, topping $3.60 a gallon. Obama complains that every time gasoline prices spike, "politicians dust off their three-point plans for $2 gas, but nothing happens and then we go through the same cycle again."

But the truth is that Obama's the one who keeps dusting off the same tired old proposals — the very ones that have failed repeatedly in practice.

He was at it again on Friday...

Liberals believe that their ideas CANNOT BE WRONG. Thus when they fail the reason is that we just didn’t do them enough. This is why El-presidente continues to not only return to the failed policies of the past but to double down on them.

If Obama had any sense he would immediately approve the Keystone XL pipeline. Not only would that add thousands of new jobs, but would send a signal to oil speculators that the US now has a reliable non OPEC oil supply from Canada and can fully exploit its own new oil fields in North Dakota. World oil prices would quickly decline and so would the price of gasoline.

Failed?

I guess that depends on what the goals were.

Drivers risk $13B gas-price hike as ethanol charge grows
http://fuelfix.com/blog/2013/03/19/drivers-risk-13-billion-gas-price-hike-as-ethanol-charge-grows/

U.S. drivers face a $13 billion increase in the cost of gasoline this year as the price of federally-mandated ethanol credits has risen 10-fold for oil refiners, including Valero Energy Corp. and CVR Energy Inc.

...

Refiners buy biofuel credits, known as RINs, which are available as an alternative to actually blending ethanol into gasoline. The cost of those credits has ballooned from 7 cents at the start of the year to more than $1 as the 2013 federal mandate for biofuel exceeds 10 percent of gasoline sales, the maximum that refiners say the market can absorb.

This time he wants to take $2 billion from oil and gas royalties and spend it on research into "cutting edge discoveries" like advanced batteries that will "shift our cars entirely off oil."

I blame poor science education in this country for people falling for these kinds of idiotic ideas.

Anyone who understands the very simple laws of thermodynamics and chemistry know that battery powered cars can never replace internal combustion power cars.

First off batteries must be charged from an external power source. The laws for thermodynamics dictate that there is wasted energy at that power source. The laws of physics dictate that there is energy lost in the transfer of power from the power source to the car’s battery. Two places so far where energy is lost or wasted.

In charging the battery chemical bonds must be broken and reformed inside the battery in the process of charging the battery. In this process heat is released and dissipated to the environment. Lost heat equals wasted energy.

Next in recovering the stored energy to drive the car’s electric motors chemical bonds are again broken and reformed releasing heat once again. This heat is again wasted energy.

Another disadvantage of the battery is that as the charge on the battery is used the battery does not decrease in weight. A fuel tank that is used up looses weight and requires less energy expended by the motor to move. Not so with a battery, an empty battery takes just much energy to pull around as a full one.

One thing about electric cars and specifically with the quote from the article above is that the advances in batteries the president is talking about is that these advances bring with them inherent dangers. The advances they talk about is increasing the energy density of the batteries or more watts stored per pound. The recent battery fire on the 737 Dreamliner is what I am talking about. The Dreamliners high tech battery caught fire in flight probably during charge mode. The more energy dense these batteries become the closer they come to being an explosive.

In order to make electric cars more useful and competitive to conventional cars the more dangerous they are making the electric car.

The laws of nature will not be denied. If people understood science better they would not be misled by these Watermelon politicians.

So, with gas in my area now at $4 a gallon. I’m curious just how going “green” is supposed to help me. I can’t just dump my car and go buy a new one. In fact I suspect many of my neighbors as well as most of the nation can’t just walk away from thier cars and go purchase a $25,000 Hybrid. POTUS is a phocking moron..right along with all his cabinte.

1. Build the Keystone pipeline.

2. Drill everywhere.

3. Repeat 1 and 2.

I just brought down gasoline prices.
