Yup! Looks like “globull” warming, er, climate change is firmly in place in Berlin. Prayers to the families. Was in Berlin in ‘62. The west was gorgeous. Crossed into the east for a tour. Not so beautiful. Still had remnants from WW II scattered on the ground. Very few private vehicles and just a general air of depression. Gotta love communism.

I had the same experience in the early 90s. Happened to be there during the reunification. I was flabberghasted that after 40+ years, no one had yet bothered to clean up some of the rubble or fix/tear down the damaged buildings.

What I most vividly remember, is the whole place stunk like a steel town (reminded me of Cleveland OH in the 70s near LTV), presumably because they were still burning coal.
