Good.

It is heartening to see royalty doing their duty in Britain.

While I would, of course, generally prefer the Telegraph, the Guardian article has more information.

The Telegraph article.

I concur with that. The people whining about this being ‘undemocratic’ need to understand the importance of a non-democratic body in revising legislation introduced by those with a vested interest in doing something for short term electoral gain rather than the long-term interests of the country.

the importance of a non-democratic body

The role of monarchy is in protecting people from the excesses of either a democratic government or of feudal landlords. Most arguments fro strong executive we are used to and appreciate in America are really arguments for monarchy, applied to an elected office somewhat crudely.

I follow some Russian conservative bloggers, as you know, but I have not come across anything of note.

Please ping me

I do not have a monarchy ping list, nor any other list. I will make one from those appearing on this thread, but I am not used to a permanent ping list, so forgive me if I neglect you in the future.

Its really no secret. Its called the Royal Perogative.

The usual interpretation is that the Queen or King may dissolve the parliament, and, of course, their property is not subject to regulation even if the rest of the country is. However, many would be surprised to know that the Queen also exercises her powers in daily politics. I was surprised and heartened by this, just as two British newspapers of note considered it newsworthy.

Yes, I heard nothing of late either.

Probably lost in all this Cyprus and Greek bank talk.

If Serbia returned to Monarchy though I can Guarantee you their finances would improve, because the E.U. could be told to shove it! and the people would have already spoken through the Sovereign.

Thank you for the update though! and Thank you again for the Monarchy Ping!
