the poor and downtrodden are different nowadays...they have homes, second homes, several cars and are lazy as sin...
But going on disability means you will not work, you will not get a raise,...No, but it does mean you can a $60,000 a year job under the table mowing lawns, electrical jobs, cleaning houses/ carpets, painting, etc. See it here EVERY DAY in a small town of maybe 50,000 people.
you’ll be stunned at who’s in the waiting room...I took a veteran who turned 62 to our local SS office and saw good looking Hispanics broads and guys sitting in the waiting room. I asked the guard “ What the Hell is a 23-25 year old here for?” He actually told me “ They can’t speak english, so they can’t work. Right?” I wanted to puke.
There are a lot of disability claims in red states. White folk welfare!
The sad sad thing about all this is that the truly disabled cannot get a claim processed in a timely fashion. I have seen a number of seriously ill, dying peopole who could not get their benefits in time, and their bills piled up and they finally died, which of course, nullifies the claim.
Disability law has become an enterprise of the tort bar.
All the ambulance chasers are expanding into SS disability claims. Advertising for it around here is heavy.
I hate lawyers.
No doubt in my mind that the fraud and abuse is clogging up the system for those who legitimately need help.
Yes, but I still have to walk around. I go to the store, I do laundry, I clean house... I've found that people with "bad backs" can often handle all the things they need to do quite well.
Are you exercising?
Yes.
Dont you get the parking places close to the building while the students who are paying your salary and benes park far away?
No. I ride the bus. I walk about 3/4 of a mile home from the bus stop, but that's okay, I consider that exercise.
Dont you get off about 3:45?
No. The students leave around 3pm but I usually have enough things to do (usually on my feet -- getting books, running copies, hunting down people to handle some business or other) to keep me till 4:30pm.
You miss my point. I'm not saying it's a bad job. I like my job. I'm saying that these folks not having higher education is no excuse to bilk the disability program. I have a higher education and it doesn't automatically guarantee a sit-down job. I also have back pain but that doesn't automatically mean I should quit working and scam the system.
well, you are right. Teachers, like my grandmother and you, used to be dedicated and hardworking. These malingerers who can’t work because of questionable bad backs and “nerves” are a drain on all of us.
