Yeah, as bad as they were, the world was better off with them than what we are morphing into now. At least they kept their radicals in check. I would not want to live under any of them but in their part of the world, force is the only language and I'd rather have strongmen keeping the radicals down any day over the alternative.

Israel Matzav is reporting Assad is dead.

Assad was shot by an Iranian officer named Mehdi Yacoubi, who was assigned by Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to guard Assad.

"Assad was rushed to the A-Shami Hospital in Damascus, where a riot broke out as Syrian troops blocked access to the hospital."

"Syrian television shut down while awaiting news of Assad's fate."

According to information published in the Arab press (then republished in the Israeli press), information that journalists claim to have 'checked', the Syrian dictator Bashar Al-Assad reportedly was killed this morning by one of his bodyguards. An important safety device was set up at the Hospital of the Damascus.

The assassin of the butcher of Damascus would be his Iranian bodyguard, an army officer named Mehdi Jakoby. He was in charge of presidential security and had been "offered" by Tehran to its Syrian ally faithful.

According to various sources reported fighting armed throughout Damascus. The roads leading to the hospital would be closed.

The premises of the Syrian TV would have been abandoned.

If this information be confirmed officially, it would be a victory for the Islamists who are fighting for the seizure of power in Syria. No one really knows what it will be tomorrow if Assad is really dead. What is the Iran will back a step? The Russia will - it see red before the loss of its best ally? What about China? And the United States who have still promised this week to a terms "in the coming days" to the Damascus regime, are they strong enough to transmit power to honest Syrians?

Darn...now the UK NHS system will be looking for another ophthalmologist recruit.

They already hired one of Sadam Husain's torture doctors:

A doctor involved in treating Iraqis who were tortured during Saddam Hussein's regime could be banned from working for the NHS.

Dr Mohammed Kassim Al-Byati worked for the Iraqi Intelligence Agency, which was responsible for torturing numerous Iraqis.

He has admitted his role was to treat victims' injuries so they could face torture again.

Today Dr Al-Byati, who is in his 40s, will appear before Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service panel, which will decide whether he is fit to continue practising in the UK.

A spokesman said: "The Panel will inquire into the allegation that between December 1992 and March 1994, Dr Al-Byati visited camps and prisons in his capacity as a doctor in Iraq.

"It is alleged that during these visits and whilst administering treatment, Dr Al-Byati knew that some prisoners he treated had sustained injuries as a result of torture, and it was likely that the prisoners would be tortured again.
