Democratic Sen. Mark Warner of Virginia on Monday announced his support for gay marriage, making him the latest high-profile politician to state publicly that his opinion on the issue had changed.

"I support marriage equality because it is the fair and right thing to do. Like many Virginians and Americans, my views on gay marriage have evolved, and this is the inevitable extension of my efforts to promote equality and opportunity for everyone," he said in a statement posted on his Facebook page, noting that he signed an amicus brief urging the repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act, which bars federal recognition of same-sex marriages.

Warner's public announcement follows similar statements of support for gay marriage from politicians including Missouri Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill, Ohio Republican Sen. Rob Portman, and former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, a Democrat.

Warner is running for re-election in 2014 in his highly competitive home state.

Warner is only high-profile if he’s had a dose of Viagra.

Hopefully, this will cost his re-election

This is the new litmus tests for all candidates now. It used to be the biggest factor when you ran for office was whether or not you were pro abortion. Now you have to be pro fag to get the liberal nod.

When I lived in Virgina, I had heard rumors that he was in gay relationship in his past..thought anyway... this does not surprise me. He has always been a leftist and anyone who thinks that he is a centrist does not know the real Mark Warner.

Might this increase his vulnerability in Virginia? He was polling well, but maybe this will hurt him. I hope so. Guy’s a bandwagon jumping SOB.

What a damned worthless tool he is. He can be counted on for one thing: obedience to Obama and the DNC. And what pisses me off is he’s one of those “sainted ones” who will only leave the Senate horizontally.

More and more politicians getting out in front of the SCOTUS decision, me thinks their decision is a forgone conclusion affirming that sodomites are equal to a marriage between a Man and a Women. God save us.

“Highly competitive home state?” Hardly... Warner is adored in this state.. don’t look for him to ever be defeated.

I suspect the DNC has already been tipped off as to how the Supremes will vote on this issue. The dems have been given the OK to to go public with their support of what has already been decided.

Don’t worry about the Dems coming out of the closet for gay marriage, worry about Repiblicans doing the same.

God let this backfire on anyone, democrat or republican, who sides with evil over You. Awaken people everywhere to see how terrible this will be on everyone, especially children.

All these scumbag politicians coming out in favor of gay marriage must be betting on the Supreme Court making same-sex marriage constitutional later this summer.

With the Portman story, and Rove’s comments recently, it seems many on the right are conceding that supporting gay marriage is politically the way to go. They no longer seem to think that homosexuality is a deviant sexual lifestyle.

I don’t care who they are, I will never support a candidate that supports the homosexual political agenda. To quote Mal Reynolds from Firefly, “I may have been on the losing side, but I’m not convinced it is the wrong side.”

Only the virgins of VA will be displeased with their senior senator. He is wildly popular, and they used to say “Virginia Is for Lovers”.

I’ve been suspicious of a lot of Republicans and I suspect there are a lot of them in the House and Senate who are yet to be discovered.

“Evolved”.....you piece of crap. Speak for yourself and your fellow sodomite lovers. This is one Virginian who will never support perversion.

In all likelihood, the SCOTUS will narrowly strike down Prop 8 and leave all other Pro Family amendments is other states standing.
