U.S. Marines rattled by bullet shortage

Rank and file told to conserve as Big Sis buys by the billion

At least one branch of the U.S. military is scrimping and saving every bullet it can while the Department of Homeland Security is on a bullet-buying spree.

Marine Corps Commandant James F. Amos blames sequester budget cuts for causing the Corps to have to scrimp and save every bullet.

In a video to Marines, he says, “I ask you to save every round, every gallon of gas, that you take every single aspect, or opportunity, in training to get the most bang for the buck.”

“This is no time to do business as usual. Things have changed. The landscape has changed. I need you to be conservative in the way we do business,” Amos continued.

Sequester cuts do not seem to have slowed down the massive purchase of bullets by DHS. WND bas been closely following the department’s big buildup of ammo, reporting how DHS bought more than 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition over the last year.

Members of Congress are demanding the Obama administration explain why it is stockpiling a huge arsenal of ammunition and weapons. “They have no answer for that question. They refuse to answer to answer that,” said Rep. Timothy Huelscamp, R-Kan. Read more at http://www.wnd.com/2013/03/u-s-marines-rattled-by-bullet-shortage/#qyiaWao61ElUU0hD.99

Seems they’ve been conserving on ammo for quite some time, and now it’s just worse. My son served in Marine Corps, 2 deployments to Afghanistan, and he was extremely anxious that they weren’t firing their rifles much at all...except just before they were getting ready to deploy. He even got in trouble with his platoon leader for expressing his concern!

“We have done so Much,
For so Long,
With so Little,
Sometimes I think
We a do Anything
With Nothing
FOREVER!”

Ooooorah!

Semper Fi!

(although sometimes we do “liberate” a few supplies from the Army, Navy, or Air Force)

Out of all the services, the Marines always seem get the shaft when it comes to funding.

I do find it hard to believe that Marines may actually creatively divert assets from other branches of the service to make up for the shortfall.

Say it isn’t so.

LIBERATE!

LIBERATE!

Read the fine print!

Besides, Form 369BC-2a was filled out, in triplicate....
You know the form, “Midnight Requisition-Olive Drab, One (or more) Ea.”

:-)

Did someone say, “All’s fair in love & in war”?

All that President Hussein has to do is seize upon some crisis or other, even a manufactured one, then declare martial law, and the consitution, the Bill of Rights, and everything even resembling democracy goes right out the window.

And then, yes, he’d be president for life, as long as he could keep milking his “crisis.”

It’s actually an old, old story, and Hussein wouldn’t be the first chief executive to seize power in such a way.

Obismo will be the first US chief executive do sieze total power.

How Nixon Won Watergate JONATHAN TURLEY
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/3000983/posts

“Obama has not only openly asserted powers that were the grounds for Nixon’s impeachment, but he has made many love him for it. More than any figure in history, Obama has been a disaster for the U.S. civil liberties movement. By coming out of the Democratic Party and assuming an iconic position, Obama has ripped the movement in half. Many Democrats and progressive activists find themselves unable to oppose Obama for the authoritarian powers he has assumed. It is not simply a case of personality trumping principle; it is a cult of personality.”

Turley is a turkey gobbling leftist talking points most of the time, but he’s nailed it here - Obama has siezed more power than Nixon dreamed possible.

But then Nixon, despite all the damage he caused, loved his country - something Obizmo does not love. And as we are seeing, the damage will be unchecked and be far worse.

New contracts are not being issued as the war winds down

Well better tell that to DHS before they get delivery.

Then the US Marines can take the DHS guns as well as the ammunition. LOL. War lots of ammo do not belong in the hands of DHS. Period.

I hope the US Marines commandeer the lot, and preserve the safety of our nation from usurpation from within. No complaint here if it happened.
