MESQUITE, TX — A Mesquite man was shot early Monday morning in what was thought to be a road rage incident near Town East Mall.
But hours later, the admitted shooter and the man who was hit were telling two very different stories.
Leonard Young, 23, is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after firing his gun 15 times on LBJ Freeway about 1 a.m. Monday.
That he emptied his weapon, and that he shot a 29-year-old father are the only things which are clear about what happened. Much of what led up to the shooting remains a mystery.
"I saw him exit the vehicle with the gun in his hand, then I heard the 'Pow! Pow! Pow! Pow! Pow!' from the back," said Marcus, the man who was shot. He asked that his last name not he revealed.
Marcus is hospitalized, but is going to be OK.

I live in Mesquite and unfortunately the only time we are in the news it is for some asinine crap like this. A shame, really. Mesquite used to be a really quiet little suburban community.
Yeah, this is pretty weird all the way around.
Mall cop dude, not driving drunk, did something that made John Q. Public follow him for a considerable distance.
Then Mr. Non-drunk Blart Mall Cop empties the mag on a Beretta M92 in the general direction of John Q., obviously without taking careful aim, and sends John Q. to the hopspittle. Then drives to Mesquite PD and turns himself in.
WTF?

Easy for me to say, but if Young thought Marcus was an imminent threat because he could not shake his tail, he should have called 911 and driven to the police station.
Apparently they’ve moved it to the interstate.
Town east has become gangbanger central.
Says a lot about Mall Rent-a-cops.....
