Rush Limbaugh: Same-sex marriage will be legal nationwide

Rush Limbaugh: Same-sex marriage will be legal nationwide By Chris Moody, Yahoo! News | The Ticket – 57 mins ago

On his radio program on Wednesday, conservative host Rush Limbaugh predicted that same-sex marriage would eventually be made legal "nationwide," regardless of how the Supreme Court rules in cases on the subject later this year.

From the show transcript:

A lot of people have no personal animus against gay people at all. It's instead, you know, a genuine, I don't know, love/respect for the things they believe define this country as great. They get up every day and they see all this stuff under attack. They see it all under assault. And I think they're just worried about the survivability of the country. And to which the opponents say, "Well, the country's changing and you better get with it and understand it because this genie's not getting put back in the bottle." And I think that's right. I don't care what this court does with this particular ruling, Proposition 8. I think the inertia is clearly moving in the direction that there is going to be gay marriage at some point nationwide.

Shifting public opinion on legalized same-sex marriage would pose significant problems for the Republican Party, which relies heavily on a large voting base of social conservatives who could abandon the GOP if the party abandons its opposition. The official platform of the Republican Party still calls for a constitutional amendment that would restrict marriage to one man and one woman.

Limbaugh, who's unsure of what would happen to the party if it changes its position, also said:

And same sex roommates who currently receive “partner” benefits (whereas unmarried opposite sex couples do not) at some firms should lose their coverage DAY ONE after such a landmark ruling. Want equality of coverage? GET MARRIED.

If it is, get ready for the THOUSANDS of changes that will need to be done to the already bloated tax code. Hope they enjoy that task.

The whole system is corrupt beyond repair. It needs to be nuked from orbit!

Ah, but here’s the question no one asks - or wants to ask: What is the RINO’s pull it off? What is they can win without social conservatives?

Then what?

President Obama signed a memorandum today extending some federal benefits to same-sex partners of federal workers. The measure does not cover health care and retirement benefits.

“Many of our government’s hard-working and dedicated, patriotic public servants have long been denied basic rights that their colleagues enjoy, for one simple reason: The people they love are of the same sex,” Obama said at an Oval Office signing ceremony.

After what he described as a “long, thorough review,” Obama signed the measure that, among other things, grants employees’ same-sex partners access to a government insurance program that pays for long-term conditions, such as Alzheimer’s disease. They also would be allowed to take sick leave to care for a sick partner or non-biological child.

“Extending equal benefits to the same-sex partners of Federal employees is the right thing to do, he said, noting that several top employers already offer benefits to same-sex partners.

“Those companies recognize that offering partner benefits helps them compete for and retain the brightest and most talented employees. The federal government is at a disadvantage on that score right now, and change is long overdue,” he said.

Still, Obama noted that by law, the government cannot grant gay couples the same range of benefits afforded to heterosexual couples. He said he supports the Domestic Partners Benefits and Obligations Act, which would further extend benefits to gay couples.

He also reiterated his opposition to the Defense of Marriage Act: “It’s discriminatory, it interferes with States’ rights, and it’s time we overturned it,” he said.

37 states have changed their Constitutions to not allow for it. They will have to change their Constitutions again.

Gay Danish couples win right to marry in church

Homosexual couples in Denmark have won the right to get married in any church they choose, even though nearly one third of the country’s priests have said they will refuse to carry out the ceremonies.

Unfortunately, Rush is correct. Anyone who can’t see this fight is largely lost is just kidding themselves. Assuming the economy doesn’t implode or nothing else happens to freeze issues like this in place, in less than 10-20 years gay marriage will be normalized throughout most (if not all) of the country. We’ll be arguing over legalized polygamy and incest for consenting adults soon enough.

I hate to bust your all’s bubble on the fag marriage issue..But at leasst 50% of so-called “Christians” are either “neutral” on the issue or all FOR it, even using the BIBLE to back up the fag marriage argument!!

I would doubt 40% of Christians nationwide actually stand FIRM against the fags—I AM one of them and will NOT change my views!!

I keep wondering when the Lord will FINALLY say—’that’s enough”. He has a LOT more patience than I DO!!

How long before I can marry my wife’s sister and her daughter?

And anybody who questions it will be a bigot.

Karl Rove will move the Republican Party for it.

It will be taught as normal in kindergarten.

Priests and preachers will be required to officiate the ceremonies.

Speaking out against it will be punishable by law.

Rush is probably right! As a long time listener to Rush, maybe my imagination, that since the last election, he seems to have thrown in the towel.

Well, maybe he is just getting to see it is a lot like Sisyphus anymore. When we have “strong leaders” like John Boehner and Rob Portman “on our side” who will “roll over” as soon as someone puts a pile of cash in front of them...what then??

“Rush Limbaugh: Same-sex marriage will be legal nationwide”

And then they'll legalize polygamy, then legalize marrying animals, and their ultimate goal...legalization of pedophilia

No, they won’t.

Gay “marriage” is the legal means to sue religions into obscurity.

God’s angels removed Lot and his family from Sodom before He destroyed it. And as He also protected the three Israelites in the fiery furnace and Daniel in the lion’s den. I only hope He will protect the body of Christ during His judgement of America.

No, not all “religions”.

Only the only REAL religion—Christianity. ALL other “religions” are ok with Liberals after all.

It is Yahoo! afterall. They target the low information voter. I’d have to look up the transcript. Pretty sure Yahoo! misquoted him.

If California wants to be the new Sodom

California voted for traditional marriage. That's what that whole Prop 8 fight was about. Prop 8 defined marriage between man and woman.
