Sounds like I need to fire up the lathe. That would be something I could build here.

I wouldn’t think a .308 from a seven inch barrel
would be that accurate.

I mean, what’s the point?

Interesting tho the idea has been around a long time. I like the idea of interchangeable barrels better.

Ralston is not exactly an expert, he shot his thumb off on national TV.

Yeah, accuracy would be very limited. The barrel length itself is not a problem, it's that it would not maintain its relationship with the sights from shot to shot.

I suppose if you wanted something, even a not very good something, that could use whatever ammo was at hand, then this would be a way to do it.

Wasn’t this guy on doomsday preppers? I seem to recall he shot his own foot or something.

I suppose, in the event of the zombie apocalypse,
this would enable you to shoot whatever rounds
that you happened to have on hand or happened to come across,
but certainly, accuracy would be questionable...
...and the full “kit” that they sell costs $450.
It’s not a bad idea, but it’s just not really practical.
I’ve got a single shot breech load 12 gauge,
but I’d have to remember to bring/keep up with all those damn adapters...

All single shot. Why not just get a 3 barrel drilling?

He actually says this on the youtube video at about 45 seconds in
“...it was one of those malfunctions that occurred when my thumb went in front of the barrel..”

Yes indeed. I have had one in .22 Mag for my .223 Contender barrel. Don't recall the manufacturer, but they were called Shell Shrinkers.

This is nothing new. It’s also nothing very practical. Burning a rifle cartridge in a shotgun barrel is one of those things you do because you can, not because it makes any sense.

For the price, you can probably buy another gun. And it won’t be single shot...

I wanted a T/C Contender frame and spotted a used G2 for sale with a 10" 30-30 barrel. I didn't have anything in 30-30 at the time, so I picked up a box of 150 gr to check it out. OUCH! Not much fun to shoot. I've fired a .308 from a 15" T/C Encore barrel (150 gr). Still pretty stout. I "fixed" the pain by purchasing a box of Speer 100 gr "Plinker" bullets and doing a lighter load. It is a pleasure to shoot the lighter round. The same "Plinker" is fine on top of 30-30, .308 or 30-06. No need to tear up your hands or shoulder if you just punching paper.
