Carson Willing to Step Down as Commencement Speaker After Protests

A pediatric neurosurgeon who has become the darling of conservatives since speaking against nationalized healthcare is now under fire for comments he made about same-sex marriage.
Dr. Benjamin Carson told “Andrea Mitchell Reports” on Friday that he would be willing to step down as commencement speaker at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine after faculty and students signed petitions asking that he not speak.
“I would say this is their day, and the last thing I would want to do is rain on their parade,” Carson told Mitchell.
Carson said in interview that he has not notified the university he won’t be speaking. “I am waiting for appropriate channels,” he said. “I don’t think television is the appropriate channel.”
The petitions began after Carson told Fox News Channel’s Sean Hannity, “My thoughts are that marriage is between a man and a woman. It’s a well-established, fundamental pillar of society and no group, be they gays, be they NAMBLA, be they people who believe in bestiality — it doesn’t matter what they are — they don’t get to change the definition.”
One of the petitions, quoted by The Hill newspaper, reads: “We retain the highest respect for Dr. Carson’s achievements and value his right to publicly voice political views. Nevertheless, we feel that these expressed values are incongruous with the values of Johns Hopkins and deeply offensive to a large proportion of our student body.”
MSNBC’s web report on the story says Carson equating same-sex marriage with pedophilia and bestiality has caused him to lose some of his star power within the GOP. Carson has said he would consider a run for president if the public was still interested in him a year-and-a-half from now.

This one is about marriage, not guns or hitching up wagons.
Johns Hopkins normals? Well maybe-—but if there are any they’d best be speaking up to shut down the queerhuggers. Otherwise Hopkins can flush its reputation also.
Carson is lucky this is happening at the end of his career. If he was just starting out, libs would have laid waste to his career before it even began. No hospital would have accepted him. As it is, historians, which are controlled by libs, are going to treat him very unkindly.
I hope the students at Ohio State do the same for Omoron...I would defer my graduation ceremony so as to not hear that liar in chief.

Even tribal societies had the awareness and common sense to keep track of their population levels. A decline in the number of women in their tribe was cause for alarm. Their leaders would react by sending out braves to steal some women (not men, mind you), from neighboring tribes, or perhaps from a passing wagon train.
Marriage between a man and a woman is necessary for the survival of any culture, even an advanced cosmopolitan society. Trivializing marriage with efforts to equate gay marriage with straight marriage is silly and destructive.
So exactly what is it about Carson’s remarks that are “incongruous with the values of Johns Hopkins”? Do they find it repugnant for one to refuse to equate gay marriage with traditional marriage? Or is John’s Hopkins criticism of Carson just empty words ?
Well, that tells us what Johns Hopkins thinks commencement is for. To smooth over the horrid incongruities of Socialist and Gay Movement propaganda, and to reassure the little dears that we do too care and kumbaya, we're all holistically hole-ists together!
I think the band should have played that old Spirit tune from the end of the 60's, "Have You Met My Uncle Jack?" to put things in the spirit of the occasion.
It's pure-d Nazi repression of 7000 years of human experience with deviant sexuality.
It's delivery on the gay ranter's promise that "we will go back and affirmatively punish" dissenters who put up a good show of backbone.

These Hopkins grads have no interest in hearing the thoughts of something so fascist as a brain surgeon.They aspire to be community organizers and personal injury lawyers,both genuine professions of the *future*.
Never mind the students. We all know how many fools there are in student bodies, apparently even elders going for literal doctorals.
What’s really bad here is the faculty. My God, these people are direct colleagues of Carson! This could even ultimately be a threat to his job! Of course, he towers over the lot of them, being head of a major department for 25 years or so.
Jim they know what they are doing. They are going to hell in and hand basket and for some reason they want to.
They rather rule in hell than serve in heaven to be more specific.
Last I checked no one rules in hell unless you consider earth hell.
We are on a slow crawl to communism and that is hell-on-earth for sure IMO, but have a happy Easter while it is still allowed in this country.
