Yes—the article has been updated:

Authorities in Tennessee have found the body of a man who was thrown from an experimental aircraft while an instructor was teaching him to fly.
Bradley County Interim Fire Chief Troy Spence said search crews located the deceased student pilot at about 11:45 a.m. Saturday. He declined to release the man’s name.
Collegedale Municipal Airport employee Lowell Sterchi told the Chattanooga Times Free Press that the man was being trained by an instructor in his Zodiac 601 aircraft on Friday when the canopy came off. The instructor also was not identified.

At least the wabbit got away! That old timer got me my private. His advice was always simple, obvious, and loud. Later he taught me to snag and tow banners, and passed away that year. Kinda miss him now!

Now there will be a made rush to outlaw throwing people out of airplanes. Eagleheart discovered nothing is illegal in the air above town.

Fake Drew was to have parachuted but the real Drew sabotaged his chute to kill him. The plane was not experimental.

Having traveled extensively in that part of Kentucky, as recently as last Friday in fact, I am very fond of Justified.

It feels authentic. The boss, Art Mullins, for instance carries the common Mullins name that is Melungeon. Many of the folks in Harlen and just south into East Tennessee are of Melungeon descent.

“but it’s not true,”

Everyone has an opinion. The idea of dying because of a heart attack while falling sounds reasonable to me.

Up here in Alaska we have very few roads, plenty of rivers but most cannot be used because of the seasons, floods or being frozen.
In a real SHTF scenario an ATV or snowmachine is what most people would have to use to bug out with, but now I am getting an idea that an ultralight would do a better job.

We have airfields EVERYWHERE up here, and when I moved here in 1992 I took flying lessons but was diverted and finally stopped.

I am going to research more about range on these and payloads.

If I have to die in an accident, make it fast. To die like that, waiting to hit the ground..*shudders*.

Shouldn’t the headline read, “Police search for BODY of man ejected from plane”?

...police in Collegedale and the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office on Friday were searching the ground for the man, ...

That would certainly be the place to search.

On a related subject, I can't count the number of times I've offered up a quick prayer to my Maker that He help me live my life in such a way that, on my final day, I would not become fodder for the wise-crackers on Free Republic.

The Allegro, now 2007, is well regarded. Alaska is a pretty big market for them. Going on memory payload is not quite 650 lbs. with the standard Rotax engine, which I believe uses regular 87 octane unleaded, handy for remote takeoffs and landings, not having to worry about acces to aviation fuel. They do pop up for sale used on occasion.

At around 13 seconds, there wasn't much waiting involved.

Having been in a serious car accident before, I can say that seconds can be a lot of time. It slows down.

Wait a minute. Didn’t we just see this on Justified?

The Argentines invented the practice back in the seventies, as they turned "disappear" into a transitive verb.

Raylan is just a hoot, sometimes, as is Boyd Crowder! The writing is really pretty good!

It’s amazing that this series was born from the short story “Fire in the Hole”. The scene with this warning in the first show was hilarious, by the way.

“A doctor told me that when people fall great distances over 40 feet either deliberately or accidentally, that they actually suffer a heart attack and are actually dead before they hit the ground.”

That’s a load of crap.

Skydivers regularly fall great distances sometimes thousands of feet in free fall.

Was this “doctor” a medical doctor or just some over educated idiot with a PHD?

“Everyone has an opinion. The idea of dying because of a heart attack while falling sounds reasonable to me.”

It isn’t a matter of opinion.

Are you for real?

Justified is more than worth the time

The TV series...yes, absolutely.

The recent Raylan book....not so much.

What I most love about “Justified” is the poetry in the dialogue. I often find my self rewinding the DVR just to hear the words again. I pretty much grew up in Kentucky so it all sounds sweet to me. Raylan and Boyd Crowder have the most lyrical lines but the poetry, it is pervasive.
