What is Pinal County like these days? Haven’t been there since the eighties.

I like it.
Lots of pros
Pretty conservative county. Very open government. the only county in the state that was cited having a very very transparent government. Probably the best Sheriff's dept in the state if not the county.
FREE firing ranges as city parks.
Police only ask that you tell them if you are armed.
Senior discount abound

A few cons
Straight roads, rivers with no water, no trees, and the cacti giving you the bird.
Tooo damn many old folks, illegals and drug smugglers, but you can't have everything.
