Fallon officially replacing Leno on 'Tonight Show'

Jay Leno has officially announced his retirement from NBC's "Tonight Show."

As expected, "Late Night" host Jimmy Fallon will succeed Leno in the spring of 2014 when "Tonight" moves back to New York, to 30 Rock -- 42 years after Johnny Carson took the show to Burbank.

With Fallon, 38, NBC hopes to capture the younger viewers and compete with ABC's Jimmy Kimmel, who moved to an 11:35 timeslot in January.

"Congratulations, Jimmy. I hope you're as lucky as me and hold on to the job until you're the old guy," Leno said in a statement. "If you need me, I'll be at the garage."

I used to watch Leno, but never cared for Fallon.

Fallon doesn't seem very talented.

I hope Kimmel destroys him.

He’s a lot less talented than Conan O’Brien, who was rudely forced out.

There was a guy on Fox saying that the libs at NBCU couldn’t tolerate Leno, even tho his ratings were good.

I seldom if ever watched Leno . . . no comparison to Carson . . . and I have no use for Fallon . . . just another libtard SNL jackass who somehow got his own show.

If I were a network executive, I’d show Carson replays for many years in the same time slot . . . these new comodians are barely funny

I’ve got about 200 videos left to view at Leno’s Garage website. They guy is a human encyclopedia of automobiles.

Leno is getting old, his viewers are getting old. Not much money in selling commercials to be seen by old people.

I would watch Leno once in a blue moon, but I can’t stand Fallon or Kimmel or any of the new bunch of late night jerks. They are all total liberal tools who have their tongues shoved down Obama’s backside.

To hell with all of them.

I used to be (moderately, I hardly watch late-night TV) a Craig Ferguson fan, but he's seemed to go off the rails in some way or another. Like he's trying to appeal to a young-and-dumb demographic, when his natural demographic is more Leno-like.

Maybe CBS can wise up and put him in David Lecherman slot. Then I'd put Adam Carolla in the 12:30 slot.

If someone actually had the smarts to do that I bet they would get ratings through the roof! I have no use for Leno, Letterman or any of the others. I wasn’t just the end of an era of Hosts when Carson retired, it seems like enjoyable comedy died too! Now the only way anyone seems to think something is funny is for it to be crude or raunchy! Even the old greats that would have a xrated act in Vegas knew how to be truly funny in an appropriate manner for all of the family.

I like Leno and wish him well. It’s a good time to retire — while he’s young and healthy enough to enjoy it. If he ever wants to perform again, he could do stand up, but he doesn’t have to. Would that we could all be so fortunate.

I have missed the entire Jay Leno era. I stopped watching the day Carson retired. Never cared for letterman either.

They’d be better off with Adam Carrola. At least he’s a man and used to work as a carpenter and he likes cars and his droll sort of humor is kind of like Carson’s was.
