At a fundraiser last night in San Francisco, President Barack Obama said that the Newtown killer gunned down 20 children using a "fully automatic weapon." From the official transcript, provided by the White House:
Now, over the next couple of months, we’ve got a couple of issues: gun control. (Applause.) I just came from Denver, where the issue of gun violence is something that has haunted families for way too long, and it is possible for us to create common-sense gun safety measures that respect the traditions of gun ownership in this country and hunters and sportsmen, but also make sure that we don’t have another 20 children in a classroom gunned down by a semiautomatic weapon -- by a fully automatic weapon in that case,

Lies backed by the Rancid Media, combined with the willingness to fight to the death over politics, ensure a 100 Year Reich for the Democrats. Conservatives refuse to go for the throat, so we will lose. Conservatives refuse to fight dirty, so we will lose. Conservatives refuse to lie, so we will lose. Libs are already forcing-through state legislatures laws requiring gun owners to buy insurance on every firearm they own; short version: confiscation. Perhaps the biggest tragedy is that, with few exceptions, rich conservatives refuse to back conservative politics. Meanwhile, Dems have, for 45 years, made a career of infiltrating the government like tapeworms and then using endless tax money to remove Bibles from schools and classifying a ridiculous 11% of all kids autistic (who all need government medicine and assistance), and actually recruiting multi-generational welfare constituants who will never work but will always vote D, and corroding the military they loathe, and so much more.
Either we fight harder or we lose. Everything. In the next four years Obama will see how far he can push the country towards ruin. Only after he forces a collapse can he rebuild the country in his own image. People at places like National Review live a comfortable life writing about the problem but writing is just complaining in fancy clothes, when you get down to it. We here are just as guilty. Until we counter the left, we lose. Everything. One EO at a time.

Actually, there is a remote possibility it was a Freudian slip. Spoke with someone on a thread here a week or two ago and they had met with people who were there who claimed the only casings laying around were 9mm. I’m no expert on this, but I did read that a Bushmaster can be modified to fire 9mm. I also found it can be modified to fire full auto. There’s a kit for that. So what if Lanza really did use the Bushmaster, but not the off the shelf variety, but a weapon modified to work more or less like a machine gun? It would poke quite a nasty hole in the propaganda. Just a theory ...

Hey Mr. Chicago "Constitutional Lawyer," The 2nd Amendment is not about hunters and sportsmen. It's about the right of the people to throw out their government by force when it tramples upon their God-given rights (see Jefferson, Thomas; The Declaration of Independence).
If it had been fully automatic it would have been 50 or more.
It was a semiautomatic. Every time he fired he had to press the trigger. An automatic is a belted machine gun. You press the trigger and hold it pressed to get it to fire continuously non stop.
Weren’t fully automatic weapons placed under extremely severe limitations back in the days of FDR? The National Firearms Act of 1934, and later amendements to that law, made the acquisition of ANY fully automatic weapon by a civilian a long, difficult, and expensive undertaking. It is not likely that the typical mass shooter would qualify or have the perseverance to try to obtain such a firearm.
Might steal one, if he knew where a collector might be keeping one, but the degree of security surrounding such an item would give even a CIA operative considerable pause. Not that the deranged prospective shooter would likely ever have the discipline to become a CIA operative, or even get in the front door.
But hey, automatic rifles make a great prop in action movies.
