MESA, AZ - The sound of "Taps" echoes nightly over a Mesa golf course in one man's effort to show respect for the military.
From a Mesa home near Loop 202 and Recker Road, 24 notes ring out every 24 hours.
Hans Jessen, steps out on his balcony each night and plays "Taps".
"It is a haunting song really that means so much to so many people," he said.

If this story doesn’t bite into your soul, you have no soul. As a vet, I thank him for his dedication and thoughtfulness.

I live about a half mile from the back gate of Fort Meyer, and the Arlington Cemetery. On a clear evening, with the window open....you can occasionally hear Taps over at the post. I don’t know anyone in the neighborhoods around the area....who ever complain.

Great childhood memories on still nights of hearing taps at dusk from the Naval Station about a mile away.

I’m sorry but I didn’t watch the video, I’m an old Vet and I heard that song far too many times. All I can say is God Bless Him! I got choked up just reading the link.

Thanks for the ping, Graewoulf, and thanks for posting this thread, South40! "Taps" holds a special place for me. I have heard it recently on many occasions at the funerals of family, friends, and Brothers-in-Arms.
God Bless them, God Bless our Vets, and God Bless this good and patriotic man who honors them!
