Why Are Young Americans Supportive of Obama When His Policies Are So Bad for Them?

Young people voted for Obama in overwhelming numbers, but the question is why?

As I explain in this interview for Blaze TV, they are being hurt by his policies.

It’s not just that youth unemployment is high. Obama’s policies also are hurting those who found jobs. Simply stated, these “lucky” folks are getting below-average pay.

Dan Mitchell Warning that Young People Are Most Hurt by Obamanomics

Some of you may think I’m clutching at straws because I don’t like Obama, but perhaps you’ll believe the man who formerly served as the Chairman of President Obama’s Council of Economic Advisers.

Here’s some of what Austin Goolsbee wrote several years ago for the New York Times.

…starting at the bottom is a recipe for being underpaid for a long time to come. Graduates’ first jobs have an inordinate impact on their career path and their “future income stream,” as economists refer to a person’s earnings over a lifetime. The importance of that first job for future success also means that graduates remain highly dependent on the random fluctuations of the economy, which can play a crucial role in the quality of jobs available when they get out of school.

Goolsbee cites some research based on the career paths of Stanford MBAs.

Consider the evidence uncovered by Paul Oyer, a Stanford Business School economist… He found that the performance of the stock market in the two years the students were in business school played a major role in whether they took an investment banking job upon graduating and, because such jobs pay extremely well, upon the average salary of the class. That is no surprise. The startling thing about the data was his finding that the relative income differences among classes remained, even as much as 20 years later.

He also reports on what other scholars found for regular college students.

Dr. Oyer’s findings hold for more than just high-end M.B.A. students on Wall Street. They are also true for college students. A recent study, by the economists Philip Oreopoulos, Till Von Wachter and Andrew Heisz…finds that the setback in earnings for college students who graduate in a recession stays with them for the next 10 years. These data confirm that people essentially cannot close the wage gap by working their way up the company hierarchy. While they may work their way up, the people who started above them do, too. They don’t catch up.

Now think about today’s young people. They’re buried in debt, thanks to government programs that have caused a third-party payer crisis. Yet they are having a hard time finding jobs because Obama’s policies are stunting the economy’s performance.

And even if they do find a job, the research suggests they will get paid less. Not just today, but for the foreseeable future.

Yet they gush over Obama. Go figure.

P.S. Goolsbee’s recent columns have been less impressive, perhaps because he feels the need to defend Obama.

P.P.S. I’m not suggesting that young people should have gushed over McCain or Romney. Just that they should view almost all politicians with disdain.

P.P.P.S. I also say in the interview that the government should get out of the housing business – both on the spending side of the budget and the revenue side of the budget. And it goes without saying that I also explain the need to reduce the burden of government spending.

“Although this group of youth is bad. They are nothing as bad as the youth of the 60’s who completely destroyed the country.”

That is now the group that surround, support, endorse and direct Obama policies.

Cause the “magic negro” is cool.
Least that’s the way his handlers have portrayed his sorry Marxist ass.
In reality he is a pathetic worthless fag with a nice smile and can read a teleprompter with the best of em.
Can’t think of any other positives though.

I’m glad to see I’m not the only one who believes Yuri Bezminov ‘s warning.

The man worked for the people with the intent, ability and opportunity to try to murder this nation. And it looks like they have succeeded so far in that plan.

I call that credible.

“.. you cannot make them choose these...”

So true. My daughters have chosen to understand conservative values and I am grateful. However, if they had chosen to listen to the leftist propaganda there is not much I could have done about it.

Twelve years of being brainwashed in grammar school and high school. Many go onto college for continued brainwashing. Ever notice what’s on Sesame Street and the Disney Channel, etc.

I never ever allowed my daughters (now 20 something, 1 15 year old) to watch Sesame Street. All have chosen to think and are more conservative leaning ... wonder if there is any connection? Sesame Street is the beginning of the brain washing.

Understand a liberal. They are incapable of admitting they are wrong or when they make a mistake. It MUST be something or someone else that causes them to look like idiots.

It’s so weird to me the reversal of positions. When I was younger in school, when school could arguably be called more “conservative,” I remember progressive-type students yelling, “fight the system,” claiming they were being indoctrinated and school authority was “oppressing them” and basically “indoctrinating them,” and we should “question authority,” and so on and so on, and now here they are, they now wear the boots, and they’re in control, and the same sentiment just can’t POSSIBLY be applied to them.

We now need to become like they were back then, “fight the system,” etc...

Idiots, Useful - 1 generation each

"According to my opinion, and the opinions of many defectors of my caliber, only about 15% of time, money, and manpower is spent on espionage as such. The other 85% is a slow process which we call either ideological subversion, active measures, or psychological warfare. What it basically means is: to change the perception of reality of every American that despite of the abundance of information no one is able to come to sensible conclusions in the interest of defending themselves, their families, their community, and their country.

It's a great brainwashing process which goes very slow and is divided into four basic stages.

The first stage being "demoralization".

It takes from 15 to 20 years to demoralize a nation. Why that many years? Because this is the minimum number of years required to educate one generation of students in the country of your enemy exposed to the ideology of [their] enemy. In other words, Marxism-Leninism ideology is being pumped into the soft heads of at least 3 generation of American students without being challenged or counterbalanced by the basic values of Americanism; American patriotism.

Most of the activity of the department [KGB] was to compile huge amount / volume of information, on individuals who were instrumental in creating public opinion.  Publisher, editors, journalists, uh actors, educationalists, professors of political science.  Members of parliament, representatives of business circles.

Most of these people were divided roughly into two groups:  those who would tow the Soviet foreign policy, they would be promoted to positions of power through media and public manipulation;  [and] those who refuse the Soviet influence in their own country would be character assassinated OR executed physically, come Revolution.  "
--KGB Defector Yuri Bezmenov
--Soviet Subversion of the Free Press (Ideological subversion, Destabilization, CRISIS - and the KGB)

It isn’t. They’ve been indoctrinated.

“Why Are Young Americans So Supporting of Obama?”

Because they feel like brilliant, fulfilled geniuses, every time they vote for a Progressive.

It’s a part of the Progressive religion; brilliance, genius, superiority and cosmic intelligence are bestowed freely on those who believe. (Very scary indeed)

IMHO

Obama has always courted them, and utilized them, and returned to them as a “@allback” constituency, because he’s
recognized how valuable they proved to be, starting with his @irst election: it’s a symbiotic relationship, which is really not very di@@erent @rom how most politicians view their discrete “voting blocs”.
Youth is @lattered by being provided with someone like Obama to “vote @or”, and he is @lattered by them, as per the visual with commentary provided at the beginning o@ this thread.
As long as the S doesn’t HT@ TOO SOON OR TOO HARD, they will continue to honor the “blame game” that his been put in place by his Administration @rom the beginning: namely, “no one else” could have pulled us out o@ this hole eight years o@ Bush put us in with such blithe humor, good grace, and resolve. It’s a @arce, but since they don’t want to @ace reality just as much as he doesn’t want to @ace reality, he’s still a pretty good @it or them.

Interesting video. Explains all of the useful idiots we find in teachers’ unions and how the USSR actually won the cold war.

Over the summer break, my son has girls from school visit him here at home; they are all liberals. The boy said, ya all the kids at school are left wingers; they all think the dems have a fairer plan, (idealism for sure) ha ha. He said, I don't even talk to them about politics; he said they will wake up someday, I don't care. He said the only other kid at school that thinks like he does (conservative) is this Jew boy he works out with; and he said they think it's all quite humorous actually.

I remember when I went to Penn State in the early 1970's. This one girl, (and I knew her dad and he was right wing as they come), she'd go to all the war protests, regular hippie girl; 20 years later I heard she run for Judge as a republican. They all wake up, some earlier than others.

This question of why many youth cling to a belief that ultimately harms them is actually a problem of ideology. The study of ideological thinking comes under what is known as cognitive science.

It is not enough to claim that students are indoctrinated. Indoctrination only explains how the process works. It doesn't explain what they are indoctrinated with that makes them think universally alike. After all, it is not possible to indoctrinate every student with every detail about liberalism. There must be a single reason that they all come to the same conclusions on hundreds of issues while never having been indoctrinated specifically about many of those issues.

It is this single what that students are indoctrinated with that is the real question. For a theory to explain the reason that some people become liberal while other people become conservative it must satisfy four adequacy conditions. For an explanation of the Liberal/Conservative Divide In America read the first slideshow here.
