During the highly publicized exchange between Bill O'Reilly and Laura Ingraham on "gay" marriage, O'Reilly made this statement: "There are Bible thumpers, and all they do is say, 'I object to gay marriage because God objects to it.' You don't win a policy debate in America with that."
Really?
Before central control out of Washington was imposed in 2003, policy arguments for criminalizing homosexual acts were won explicitly "with that." And because of "that," the idea of "gay" marriage has been unthinkable throughout the history of the American nation.
Just over four years ago, during the 2008 presidential campaign, Barack Obama was part of the winning policy debate in America, disapproving of "gay" marriage. That moral debate, consistent with America's history, was won "with that." In fact, Barack Obama was quite the Bible-thumper on the campaign trail.
Barack Obama was for "gay" marriage (1996) before he was against it (2004 Senate race; 2008 presidential race) before he was for it again (2012). But during his tenure during which he was against it, he based his opposition to it on "that." The "that," of course, was his alleged Christian faith.
At the Rick Warren forum in August of 2008, Obama stated: "I believe that marriage is the union between a man and a woman. Now, for me as a Christian, it is also a sacred union. God is in the mix."
Hmm. We learn in the Bible that God considers marriage a sacred union. In fact, Christian cultures have long referred to marriage as "holy matrimony." Though polygamy existed in ancient cultures, there is no biblical record of God establishing it. God originally placed one man with one woman, and in the New Testament, God makes clear that a man should have one wife.

The history of the church has been clear on sexual immorality and has pointed out the evils pedophilia, adultery, homosexuality. It's society that keeps flip flopping on the issue.
Well to be honest I don’t think churches in general have been as clear as they should be on moral issues. Its been good to see the Catholic church reaffirming many core values.

Why is homosexuality ok, but not bestiality?
I live in a state where bestiality is legal, unless you can prove that the animal didn’t enjoy it. In other words, it’s ok as long as the animal is on top.
We have had several high profile bestiality cases and guess what, all the men involved were homosexuals, not that all homosexuals also engage in bestiality. So what’s the difference, morally, and who is the arbiter of what is moral and not moral, legal and not legal.
Should we force WA State Bestiality laws on all states, make it a federal law?

I agree with you on today's churches but the when the church first started, the first couple hundred years or so, the leaders have written about sexual immorality as being evil. Today the churches are infected with worldly desires.
There is a difference between not illegal actions and actions that are codified as legal, such as abortion or Gay marriage. Actions that are codified as legal implies public approval and as such enables the participants in the codified action to claim duress by those who do not approve of the action.
To support legalization of Gay Marriage to offer approval. On the other hand, you could support Gay unions with all the same rights and benefits as marriage, without really approving of the actions of homosexuality.
Gay rights is is the wedge being used to raise Statism above God.
Back to the bestiality example. I don’t really care if a man would rather have sex with his dog (or his horse) than a woman, any more than I care if a man picks another man as his partner, but that doesn’t mean that I approve or want my children being taught that bestiality or homosexuality is a normal way of life. But, then again, they aren’t asking my approval of bestiality.
Would you approve of the Gay Lobby teaching the use of gerbils, the same way they are teaching fisting to teen-agers. Is the use of gerbils also ok in your mind? Should the use of gerbils be legal? In WA State the use of gerbils is illegal because the gerbils obviously don’t enjoy it, but some might argue that gerbils are, after all, raised to feed to pet snakes.

To be completely honest with you, the only time I think about this topic, is here on FR, as no one I know ever talks about the whole gay thing. I didn’t know that the gay lobby teaches fisting to teenagers. In fact, I’ve never even been exposed to anything gay lobby-like.
The whole issue of Gay Marriage is a matter of control. The left knows that if they can control the language, they can control public dialogue and through control of the dialogue, they can control the elections. Moral relativity is pushed through relativity of the language.
Right now, Obama and the left are calling for sex education, starting in kindergarten. Oh, and yes they have taught fisting to teenagers and Obama has just dumped a whole lot of money on Planned Parenthood to implement their gay sex education in public schools in certain states, including WA, Idaho, Oregon and Alaska.
By the way, WA State has a kind of history for sexual tourism. First, it was the Gay bath houses, where the customers could purchase the meth before retiring to a room with a random partner. That ended when a customer from New York was exposed for having knowingly exposed the other customers to AIDS. The guy was sentenced to public service of speaking out against the use of meth to enhance gay sex. Then, there was the Animal Farm, that also attracted an international clientele. It was closed down after a man who was having sex with a horse died and the video went viral on the internet. Then, there was the animal farm in the county where I live. It was smaller than the other one and I don’t think that it include horses, but it was started with the man’s own dog, a great Dane, whom he dearly loved, but no one ever suggested that it should be called a marriage. That man went to jail because they said that the animals weren’t enjoying the sex.
How do you think that the WA State Bestiality laws would go over in other states.
