Justice Minister Tzipi Livni, who is also in charge of negotiations with the Palestinian Authority, is going behind Prime Minister Netanyahu's back and expressing positions that undermine his conditions for negotiations, according to Maariv.
Livni has shown willingness to retreat from Netanyahu's position, that in order for negotiations to begin, the Palestinian Authority (PA) must accept that Israel has a right to exist as the Jewish state.
The newspaper quoted a Western source who is well-versed in the diplomatic contacts as saying that Livni "has become convinced that Israel's insistence on this condition could prevent the resumption of negotiations, and did not rule out the position presented to her, according to which the most Israel can receive from Abu Mazen is a recognition of the solution of two states for two peoples."

What a bitch.
(Not you, rather Livini.)
Livni was always just another Quisling. Obama’s creature.
She is not undermining him. He picked her for the job and this behavior is entirely within her character and her previous behavior. Netanyahu cannot possibly be surprised.
Right. Livni is Bibi’s femme side, allowing him to play macho while he’s surrendering land and sovereignty.
Maybe he is counting on the arabs to, in the end, refuse even the most generous peace offer.
Still, accepting Israel as having the right to exist should be a prerequisite for being allowed to draw breath.
And any Israeli government official who would put that on the table should be disqualified from office altogether.
I suspect you are right. She’s doing to our foreign policy what Ehud Barak used to do to the outpost mitnahalim, and she is not even the Foreign Minister.
if this is a correct report, Bibi needs to replace her quickly. he can’t have someone undermining his govt from within, especially as it involves the basic defense (or defense-ability) of the nation. (If this is somehow part of Bibi’s plan, given that he could have known she might, or would, attempt to subvert the govt, then Bibi should reconsider. That’s a very dangerous strategy (it only encourages the enemies to further their efforts at dismembering the state), and a strategy for no perceivable purpose or benefit.)
how do you seriously have genuine negotiations as nations if one side does not agree the other has a right to exist!?
Serious? The purpose of these negotiations has never been peace between Israel and the Palestinians. It’s been affordable oil for the USA in exchange for finding a fiefdom for the PLO to misrule, rather than extorting the Saudis. The quest for piece is merely the fig leaf covering this scam. But once you understand the scam, it’s perfectly serious.
...the most Israel can receive from Abu Mazen is a recognition of the solution of two states for two peoples. Then kill Abu Mazen, and Zippy, and switch heads on the bodies -- and btw, fyi, AM's already proclaimed that he won't recognize a Jewish state.
