After 15 burglaries over three months, a California hardware store owner took the law into his own hands by catching the men he suspects of robbing him saying, 'This is my property; Im going to defend it.'
Fed up after losing thousands of dollars worth of gardening equipment and spending money on surveillance cameras and new fencing, Darin Fowler decided the only option was a stake-out.
So on Friday night, Fowler waited up until the early hours of the morning and at 3.30 a.m. pulled his gun on the two unsuspecting men he caught taking equipment out of the store lot.
'They were yanking units through the fence,' said Fowler to CBS Local in Sacramento. 'As soon as he saw the gun he was very compliant.'
Ordering one of the suspects, Dillon Masterson, to the floor, Fowler called Oroville police who he says arrived within two minutes and took the men into custody.

The popo’s are there to protect the gov’t, NOT you.
The store owner was arrested and charged with the crime of “laying in wait and kidnapping” ..../sarc for those that don’t get it.
It was THREE MONTHS. 15 was the number of robberies.
My Dad... God rest his soul... was pretty much a good ol’ boy. After he and my Mom split up he lived in the San Fernando Valley in some little house that had the garage attached to the back with alley behind it. For several weeks he would get up in the morning and his car battery would be gone. Really played havoc with him getting to work in the morning as well as his pocket book replacing batteries. He decided to take care of the scoundrel. He ran fine wires with an electrical charge so when the guy went for the hood of his care he tripped on the wire and lo and behold he heard the scream in the early morning hours and caught the guy writhing on the garage floor. Of course he didn’t call the police. Just took the guys ID and made note of it and let him know he would come gunning for him if he ever lost another battery. Word gets around in the neighborhood. Dad never had another problem while he lived there.
Thank your for the correction.
One of the best gunfighters in America? A Rolex watch repairman.
Why do stores invest so much money in security cameras that take such grainy, blurry pics/videos where you cant see anything? Cant they get better cameras that can take better pics? Its not as if this camera technology was invented yesterday. My cell phone camera takes way more clearer and sharper pics/video than this guys security cameras.
I think that would violate the "Criminal Privacy Protection Act." /s
Also, you would think the guy might do something LONG before the 15th crime occurred. Maybe after two??
George Phillips, an elderly man, from Meridian, Mississippi, was going up to bed, when his wife told him that he'd left the light on in the garden shed, which she could see from the bedroom window.
George opened the back door to go turn off the light, but saw that there were people in the shed stealing things.
He phoned the police, who asked "Is someone in your house?"
He said "No," but some people are breaking into my garden shed and stealing from me.
Then the police dispatcher said "All patrols are busy. You should lock your doors and an officer will be along when one is available".
George said, "Okay."
He hung up the phone and counted to 30. Then he phoned the police again.
"Hello, I just called you a few seconds ago because there were people stealing things from my shed. Well, you don't have to worry about them now because I just shot and killed them both. The dogs are eating them right now." and he hung up.
Within five minutes, six Police Cars, a SWAT Team, a helicopter, two Fire Trucks, a paramedic, and an ambulance showed up at the Phillips' residence, and caught the burglars red-handed.
One of the Policemen said to George, "I thought you said that you'd shot them!"
George said, "I thought you said there was nobody available!"
Humorous, but true.
