Theres a Texas Republican who vocally stated that he supported background checks to keep guns away from those who shouldnt have them. And an assault weapons ban.
Dont believe it?
Former President George W. Bush said he supported background checks during the 2000 and 2004 presidential debates. Check out the video proof posted by Buzzfeed.
I believe law abiding citizens ought to be able to own a gun, he said during a 2004 presidential debate against Democratic challenger John Kerry. I believe in background checks, at gun shows, or anywhere to make sure guns dont get in the hands of people that shouldnt have them.

Not hard to believe.
W needs to spend more time mending fences.
The liberal media must think that conservatives will be shocked by this or something. They do love the false notion of precedent equaling justification . . .
“I believe in the constitution and the Bill of Rights.”
And that is exactly what it is all about.
The Constitution and Bill of Rights supersede any whims of a politician.
it might not be framed properly either.
dealers at gun shows will do background checks. private sellers don’t. he may have just meant he was for what was being done currently.
either way it’s only his opinion, not the constitution.
‘compassionate conservatism’
Where did all those Hispanics go in 2006 and 2008 Gorge?
500 commie ‘RAT piggies could get up on the Capitol Hill steps and sing, “We support the ‘assault weapons’ ban”, in unison and the toads in the state controlled “media” wouldn’t pay them any attention. Let one Republican say it and it’s all over the place and is the biggest thing since sliced bread. The GOOBers really need to learn to shut up.
There needs to be a Victims of Fast & Furious website. Every time “commander zero” mouths off about “common sense gun control” there needs to be someone there holding a picture of Brian Terry, Jaimie Zapata or one of the hundreds if not thousands of the Mexican victims of this crime.
I remember it well and I don’t give a rat’s rear end what he thinks about it. Shall not be infringed is the Supreme Law of the Land. End of discussion.
The way to look at this is :
BUSH=BAD (in the minds of all good BDS sufferers Republican and Democrat)
BUSH FOR WEAPONS BAN
WEAPONS BAN =BAD
Yeah, I remember. he also resigned from the NRA. And then he got thrown out of office by a degenerate buffoon named Clinton.
Yet he was one of many once considered untouchable Gods around here
Cults of personality fall hard
I suspect Carson....a decent man nonetheless
Will be the next object of affection for the harpie phalanxes
“But war daddy...he sure beat Gore!!!!”
True but he was no conservative....nor was dad.....and Bush stumbled
I actually talked to Jeb Bush on the phone back around 1990 and Jeb wasn't really very clear about what the 2nd amendment actually means. They don't seem to have a deeply held principle demanding that they defend it.
Poppa Bush and Momma Bush are typical New England elitists, not much interested at all.
One of these days I'll write out the story of how I came to get that phone call from Jeb, and how I watched my back for months wondering if I was marked for death, LOL
Almost as much as one Republican supporting gay marriage rights.

Not only that but there are deranged individuals on FR who believe everything the liberals believe about how bad Bush was
I suspect (name your candidate here ) is not a true conservative either
...Bush stated his support for the ban during the 2000 presidential campaign but stopped short of pledging to sign an extension.
That's not true. He promised to sign it if Congress put it on his desk.

Hear it from his own lips.

If he lures the RINOs out on the issue, that just means they'll get called on it next time.
