Marco Rubio goes all-in on immigration bill
Polutico ^ | Friday April 11, 2013

Marco Rubio is preparing to go all in to support sweeping immigration legislation, offering himself up as the public face of a bill that will split the Republican Party — but that his allies hope will propel him to the front of the GOP presidential sweepstakes.

After offering lukewarm support until now, Rubio is preparing to fully embrace a measure that is the most significant of his political career so far. The gambit could pay off in spades by crowning a leading presidential contender in 2016, or it could permanently damage the Republican’s brand with conservatives.

Rubio is planning a media blitz to promote the bill — which is expected to be released early next week — making the rounds on all of the Sunday political talk shows starting this weekend, wooing skeptical conservative radio hosts and pitching the plan to Spanish-language news outlets. The campaign is aimed at building public support for the far-reaching immigration bill that will dominate Capitol Hill’s attention for much of year

Palin is also an amnesty supporter.

Well maybe we should wait for a definitive statement on her view. I admit she has been pretty flexible on the amnesty issue.

I haven't heard any outrage from her on this evil gun legislation yet either.

Someone better rise to the task or we will have been as bamboozled as the people in the Third Reich.

“People and media keep referring to Cubans and those South of the Border as though they were of another race of people. Many are of European ancestry whose forefathers and mothers did not intermarry with the local Indians.”

A lot of Cubans look like they have black blood.

Besides, does your statement really mean anything in this world today? Hispanics are ganging up on the whites from every angle. Anyone who thinks otherwise is delusional.

I ‘think’ it was, Isakson, Rubio and Crapo, Sens. Lamar Alexander (Tenn.), John Boozman (Ark.), Susan Collins (Maine), Mike Enzi (Wyo.), Deb Fischer (Neb.), Orrin Hatch (Utah), Pat Roberts (Kan.), John Thune (S.D.) Roger Wicker (Miss.)

Personally, I wouldn’t give Obama or any other democrats the time of day.

I’m looking forward to Rubio showing up on Levin’s show.

I wonder if he has the ‘time’ to do it.

The good news just keeps coming, all by design.

Without having heard from her, I can say with virtual certainty that Sarah Palin would not support a 1500 page amnesty bill rushed through Congress without hearings.

These are the same tactics Marco Rubio claimed to oppose during the Obamacare debate (while he was running for office).

There's no way he jumps ahead of Prince Jeb. Not that it matters. Pass amnesty now and the rank and file will never forget.

We were sold out. Nobody left to help us.

Marco Rubio’s allegiance is to his race rather than his country.

Disagree slightly. Marco’s allegiance is to himself. He has Beltway fever just like Boehner and McConnell. All they care about is person gain. We now live in a banana republic with such leaders.

Rubio has been promised the GOP big money for 2016 and is now going all in. He is just doing the bidding of the big business/donor wing of the GOP.

Ryan is a joke. He’s another insider Boehner toady who let Joke Biden get the better of him in the debate. For me, it’s Palin/Cruz/Paul or bust.

Of course it has nothing to do with genetics, it has everything to do with Philosphy of Judea-Christain ethics being thrown to the curb side. It a huge thorn in the side of those who seek and crave power.

I believe all candidates are picked by ? way ahead of time and they do what they need to do to get in office. These candidates look like saints and we fall for it every time. Look at Toomy and Rubio. Can’t trust anyone now.

Not that I am aware of, and I can forgive one flaw in an otherwise excellent candidate like her.

Do you then favor an amnesty for the 12 or 13 million undocumented immigrants?

No, I do not. I do not. Not total amnesty. You know, people have got to follow the rules. They've got to follow the bar, and we have got to make sure that there is equal opportunity and those who are here legally should be first in line for services being provided and those opportunities that this great country provides.

To clarify, so you support a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants?

I do because I understand why people would want to be in America. To seek the safety and prosperity, the opportunities, the health that is here. It is so important that yes, people follow the rules so that people can be treated equally and fairly in this country.

and I can forgive one flaw in an otherwise excellent candidate like her.

An amnesty will destroy this country with the stroke of a pen.
