Liberal anti-gun readers of the Seattle Times and Seattle P-I.com are having fits over the announcement that the State Republican Party will auction an AR-15 during this weekends annual fund raising banquet.
The event kicks off with a silent auction beginning at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Bellevue Hilton, followed by the live auction and dinner beginning at 7 oclock, according to State GOP Chairman Kirby Wilbur. He was filling in all week on KVI for vacationing John Carlson. This was like an old home week for Wilbur, who used to occupy the morning drive slot on KVI before a former program manager made the monumentally wrong decision to not renew his contract.
Instead of sending Wilbur into a professional gulag, Wilbur successfully ran for the Republican Party chairmanship and won. Now when he fills in on the air, its the best of both worlds for the politically active Wilbur, and tens of thousands of KVI listeners who miss the days when he and Carlson dominated Seattle talk radio.
The AR-15 was donated by Lacey-based Olympic Arms to the Washington Arms Collectors, on whose board of directors Wilbur now serves. Its the Plinker model, chambered for the 5.56mm NATO cartridge, and it is a prime example of what has become the most popular rifle platform in the country, thanks to efforts by President Barack Obama and Senators Dianne Feinstein to ban them.

Gun safety at last. Schumer already has the bill written.
Given the value of arms and the demand for them, this is an excellent idea for a fund raiser.
Best graphic yet. Nicely done.
We raffle guns off monthly.

What a golden opportunity. Right now, in many parts of the country, worthy charities could make a fortune auctioning off donated guns and ammunition.
Making it even better, those charities could be “bulletproof” charities, that made the leftists who attacked them look like monsters. Like “Handicapped Homeless Orphans With Terminal Cancer Whose Father Was A US Marine Killed in Afghanistan, and Whose Mother Was A Fireman Who Died While Rescuing Puppies And Kittens From A Burning Animal Shelter.”
Not a very big charity, but a popular one.
Please share it. The low-information voters need to be slapped upside the head with visions of what is coming down the pike.
If the leftist are upset with you, you’re doing something right.
Their fury is 1:1 proportional to the rightness of your act. The law of diminishing returns is repealed in this instance.
There seems to be an error in the headline. This didn’t occur in Oregon (OR), but in Washington (WA).
“plinker model” WTF,does it shoot jelly beans? The AR-15 is my modern self defense rifle of choice not a toy.
“If the leftist are upset with you, youre doing something right.”

That seems to be the case.
And the GOP is compromising with them.
That is precisely the WRONG approach. Oppose them.
Strongly.
A keeper, Travis!
Be Ever Vigilant!
“Plinker” is the name of Olympic’s “budget” model line - has been so for the past decade, give or take. If you’re not a big fan of free-float tubes, ten feet of cheesegrater-like rails and all that other tacticool stuff, it’s actually a pretty good basic carbine.
Oregon ping...
The state GOP is sure doing a great job advertising this. I’m active with Benton County GOP & this is the first I’ve heard of it!
Never mind, this appears to be for Washington.
Glad to be of service.
I bet more tickets would be sold if they included ammo.
Just very recently there seems to be more supply, its still being bought up before it hits the shelves but it is slowly coming back.
looks tacticool to me
